Well just had mine last knight. Show up at city walk early to grab dinner and walk around the place before the movie but I noticed that the Imax dark knight line is already lining up 4 hours early. Being one to hate getting crappy seats I convince my friends to line up lol. Finally our movie starts and everyone is excited, movie is kicking ass and getting good when 1 hour into the movie in the middle of an Imax sequence some jerkoff decides to pull the fire alarm and all the movies stopped!!!! So we wait, and wait, then after waiting for almost an hour to get the fire department to shut off the fire alarm the alarm is shut down. Unfortunately to our delight Imax video and sound sources come from different computers and they cant sync up the voices so they cancel our show and supposedly the next 2:15 am show after ours(which I doubt). Security and Sheriffs were called in and lined up as we were told to exit as ppl chanted "Restart Movie!!" OMG now i have to wait to finish watching the movie as most afternoon Imax shows are already sold out for the rest of the week.

Even though there is a thread already about this, I've decided to share two of my last three atempts to watch TDK.
12:01 a.m.- Before the previews even start there's audio for old previews, Zohan and others. During the Watchmen trailer, the picture dissappears and comes back on just in time to see the end of it. During the movie, the theater lights come on while the movie is going. They eventually turn off. Finally, just as Bruce is driving his Lambo in front of the hospital, the picture, during the movie!?!?! turns off but there is still sound. We finally just leave because we know they can't rewind it. So I end up missing the last 45 minutes. Second time was alright. Just now, the 1:15 p.m. showing- before the previews the screen is set perfectly to 2.4:1. As soon as the previews start, it moves to 1.85:1 and stays that way during the movie. I don't mind black bars at home, in fact I prefer them, but at the movies, I do not. Then I see a whole freakin' family come in with two small children and a baby in a car seat thing. One of the kids doesn't shut up during the whole movie so I finally ask the grandpa or father, couldn't figure it out to ask him to be quiet as nicely as I could and all I'm met with is aggression and hostility, so I call him an a$$hole and am forced to deal with it. But with a little help from friends, the man is verbally attacked. He's noticeably mad during the remainder of the movie. I'm fine now that I think about it because he couldn't enjoy the movie same as me. I'm counting it as a win. Also, that sucks for you. I feel your pain. |

nah. I know a lot of people, especially here, are fans so I won't get into it but I was just looking for something very different than what I got. glad a lot of people were pleased with it though.

When I went to see The Dark Knight on Thursday, there was some guy seated next to us who was high because he ate a pot brownie 1 hour before the movie started. He kept on laughing during the movie and was being very annoying. He thought he was hot s*** because he caught an early preview of the film, but for some reason he acted surprised when
[Show spoiler] . It wasn't just a normal reaction either. He completely over-reacted. He kept on yelling out, "Oh my God, oh my God." I felt sorry for my girlfriend because she was sitting next to him and it was ruining her first IMAX experience. Thank God the speakers in the IMAX theatre are louder than that ass because the movie wasn't completely ruined with his talking. It wasn't the worst experience, but the most recent that I can think of. |

A few years back, before everyone had cell phones, a bunch of us went to a special midnight screening of a Utah cult favorite called "Rubin and Ed." One of my friends, who we'll call "Smitty Bojangles") left the theater early to do who knows what. The rest of us stayed to enjoy the late night experience.
Ten minutes after Smitty leaves, an usher comes down the aisle and starts calling out: "Is there a Smitty Bojangles here? Anyone in the audience named Smitty Bojangles?" My friends and I grab his attention and explain that Smitty left. The usher told us that somebody was on the phone and said it was extremely important that they talk to Smitty. "Who is it?" i asked." "Some girl," he said. "Oh..." I had a pretty good idea who it was. Smitty's mental girlfriend. "He's gone, and we have no idea where he went." I explained. The usher said, "OK," and walked out of the theater. Two minutes later, the film comes to a sudden stop, the lights flare on, and 3 theater employees come into the theater. Everybody in the crowd is groaning and asking what's up? The usher from earlier points at me and says, "That's the guy who knows him." The manager comes over to me and says, "There is a person on the phone named (we'll call her Skanky McTittle) Skanky who need to speak with Smitty. She says it's an emergency." I explain to the manager that Smitty is gone and none of us have any idea where he went, but I'll be more than happy to talk to Skanky on his behalf. Of course, everyone in the audience is pissed because of the disturbance, and they all burst into cheers and applause when I leave the theater. Nice! It wasn't even my fault. I'm not the one who called a movie theater looking for somebody. Anyway, I get to the phone and ask Skanky what the deal is. "What's the emergency?" I asked her. I knew she was a little dramatic. "There isn't an emergency," she says. I just really want to talk to Smitty." FU*$!!! She's got to be kidding, right? I said, "Are you telling me that you called a movie theater and had the manager stop the film and walk through a crowded audience just so you could talk to your boyfriend?" Her reply, "Yes. Where is he?" I explained that I didn't know where he went, but I added a few nuances to the story. I told Skanky McTittle that Smitty left with 2 hot dunk chicks and probably wouldn't be home until way late. "What?!" she fumed, "Who are they? What are their names?" "I don't know," I told her, "they are just a couple of girls who seemed to like Smitty. Can I go back to my movie now?" I slammed the phone down after telling her NOT to call back again. The manager and the ushers overheard my side of the conversation, so they were onto what was really happening. I asked them to please not stop the film if Skanky called back. She was clearly mental and besides, Smitty was not even at the theater. They said it was cool and I stumbled back to my seat in the dark theater. I missed the next few minutes of the movie (in addition to what I already missed from being on the phone) because I had to explain what had just happened. Drama Queens, I tell ya. ![]() What a mess. |

when I was watching Speed Racer during the previews the screen fell down (yeah I know it was weird, we saw it just like fall all of a sudden), it took them like 5 minutes to notice, then the paused the movie and got the screen back up it took almost a half hour, once the screen was back up they began the previews up again and we saw the movie but it was annoying to have a half hour delay.

Wimps.... all of ya!
Went to go see the Omen III when it first came out. Movie had already started so the theater was dark. (spoiler alert for anybody that never saw it) Anybody remember the opening when the guy in the office blows his own head off with the shotgun? Well, someone in the previous screening took offense to that scene and hurled warm chunks into he seat in front of him. No one bothered to clean up his lunch, so I guess I was elected. I sat down and promptly heard "ker-splash!". Embarrassed and riveted by the movie, I sat there until it smelled like a rotting corpse. Finally, sometime before Damian humped the giant crucifix, I ventured to the bathroom, cleaned my pant ass and found another seat. Any takers? ![]() Last edited by Blu-junkie; 04-21-2015 at 01:12 PM. |

TDK was the worst. $10.00 for a 7:00pm showing in Tallahassee at the Regal Cinema in Governor's Square Mall--DO NOT GO TO THIS THEATER!!
The particular theater I was in had problems. Being on vacation, I wasn't familiar with the venue. Well, first, it doesn't have digital projection, and the PQ was very soft and out of focus. The audio on the previews was nonexistent. The whole thing was silent up until about 1 minute into the actual movie itself, and some idiot teenagers about my age thought it would be funny to add their own sound effects and dialog to all of the previews. When the audio for the feature kicked in, it was very soft. This movie deserves the loud theater sound, and my HTiB plays louder than that theater did. Not only was it painfully soft, it was flat and lifeless. Dynamics were simply terrible, and dialog sounded muffled and distanced. It sounded like there was a sharp roll-off of treble frequencies, giving the impression of listening to the movie from another room. I don't think the subwoofers were even turned on-- [Show spoiler] had none of the impact you would expect out of a major action soundtrack. Simply muffled and disappointing--worst movie theater experience I have ever had, especially now that I'm here on this forum and see everybody talking about how loud and dynamic the audio was.If you're ever in Tallahassee, either make sure you're not in theater #5, or just go to the AMC 20. As for me, the movie was so good that I'm going to see it again this week in digital PJ here in Lynchburg, and am making plans to drive 3 hours to the nearest IMAX in Raleigh for a third viewing. |

Back in 1986, a friend of mine and I went to a midnight screening of The Fly at this little theatre in Denver. Ten minutes into the feature, and the lights went out. Fifteen minutes later, they finally come back on and the movie restarted---until they went off 10 minutes later. The manager apolized to all of us saying that this particular theatre was currently having problems, but he assured us they were fixed. The power comes on and the movie starts again---and again, they go off. This time, the manager conceded that there was a problem and the show was cancelled. Argh!
One good thing that came out of this, though. Not only did we get our money back for THAT feature, but we ended up getting 5 additional movie passes for future films. |

Every time I've been to an AMC theater here in Phoenix, it has been a bad experience. Dirty screens and projectors, dim bulbs, audio failures, movies coming unreeled right at the climax, rude-ass lunatics taking phone calls, etc. I boycott that chain. It seems every time I go there, I come away with comp passes from the manager.
Saturday was pretty bad for me, but it wasn't AMC. My mom just got her eyepatch off several weeks after surgery, and to celebrate I took her out to see The Dark Knight. Just my luck, I chose good seats, and immediately after, we got surrounded on both sides and front and back by the loudest, drunkest (is that a word?), most flatulent people in the building. The bozos on my side were hysterically cackling from beginning to end, while the fat jackass on my mom's side was jabbering, hooting, heckling, yelling at his kids, and flailing his arms in her face the whole time. God damn, I can't wait to really get to see this movie on my glorious home theater. |

Man, some of these stories are pretty rough. When I saw TDK today it wasn't a bad experience but, have you ever wanted to kick someone in the back of the head because they have their phone on AND are using it the entire movie? The guy in front of me 3 seats to my right had his on, through the movie he answered his phone 4 times (talking about 4 minutes each time), sent about 6 text messages and was talking to his friend for about 10 minutes. I didn't mind him talking so much as the texts and the answering of the phone, because it lit the place up like a camp fire. The audio in the theatre is so loud it drowns out MOST people talking, but those friggen cell phones just light the place up. I wish they would hire some people to just observe the people in the theatres and if they spot someone, take him outside and whoop his a$$, like big club bouncers whooping them or something.
My worst experience has to be watching Miami Vice. So this movie (from what I recall) was pretty well hyped up so we go (mom, dad, bro) to a showing at about 5-6ish at night on Sunday I believe. I recall it was mildly stormy outside. So apart from the 15 minute ticket line-up wait we get our tickets we start heading over to the theatre. To my surprise the theatre is nearly already filled, we came early, so we don't get the greatest seats, but w/e, I had worse when I saw Indy 4, 2 months ago. So I look at my watch and the movie is like 15 minutes late. Then finally about 30 minutes after the PREVIEWS were supposed to show the movie just starts. Well it shows about 5 seconds of the movie (picture and sound), then the picture dies and turns black. With the audio still playing the screen continues to stay black. Finally someone left and *****ed at the manager about it not working. Then all of a sudden it all dies. A few minutes later the manager comes in and says they are having technical problems, most of the crowds starts booing and yelling at them. About 10 minutes later it starts up again. But oh joy, they skipped about 2 scenes and we missed the intro. So missing the first 10 minutes of the movie I FINALLY get to watch it. Then the worse part of all...I watched the movie. What a terrible movie. I fell asleep about half way through, when Colin Ferrel is off fu**ing some chick in the beach house. I wake up to endure more of this craptastic movie. Then it dies again. All is turned off. Boos again, then the movie starts up again, and eventually this pile of garbage ends. Leaving the theatre was entertaining because I could here all the people (a lot, I might add) complaining about how much a let down the movie was. I know my experience doesn't stack up again the puking, or a$$hole ones, but still. Considering my post is extremely long, I will end it. |

Yup...I know the stories...Everyone has a particular moment where they had a negative experience @ the theatre....this is why I enjoy sitting @ home and watching a movie in 1080 without interruption.
Going to the theatre is a fun experience but it's been getting out of hand lately. Late shows are exciting but they're overloaded with 15 year olds who are trying to get to first base with their 13 yr old g/f....constantly on their cell phones. TDK was packed...movie was slated for 8:40....of course the theatre was running back to back shows...so when one group got out, another went in....the group took forever so we got in around 9:00 this is after standing in line for almost an hour to get a decent seat..which DIDN'T happen. Cinemark has the longest coming attractions...almost 10 mins...so we finally got the movie rolling. I was next to a very obese woman who had the largest tub of popcorn I've ever seen...it was gone before the movie even started lol. She got up and down...she had 2 re-fills of popcorn lol. Another guy brought in a pizza...YES a pizza..is that legal? lol who knows. Loaded of course with teenagers who don't turn their phones onto vibrate. For some reason it was hot as hell in there. I was sweating like crazy and it was a ***** to enjoy the movie not to mention my neck was fu*&ed up due to sitting in the front row. I've had worst experiences but I'm anxiously awaiting the BD release so I can enjoy it in peace. |
