Default Stars, oceans, animals and Earth itself

Hi,

I've just gone through the whole catalog of available movies on tower.com and come across some interesting ways that blu-ray can be used outside of the movie realm. One title which caught my eye was stargaze HD. The description states you can watch the stars for an hour whilst listening to sublime music. Sounds like a trip if you ask me. Sounds like you could make love under the stars in your own bedroom to something like that .

Anyway back on subject. I was wondering if the effect of serenity is captured in these moody blu's and if anyone has actually viewed/reviewed these kinds of titles. I know about the fireplaces and the aquariums but i'm more interested in something a bit "out there" without narration. A bit like those trippy CD's you used to buy with the relaxing sounds, but of course with video accompanied with it.

I bought Galapagos a while back and the video is absolutely fantastic, can anyone state if the other imax discs sustain the same quality throughout. I am a true believer that to show off blu-ray you have to go outside of the realm of movies, you have to give the viewer something to truly experience that is so soul piercing they will never forget it.

Thanks for reading, share your thoughts.

Richie.

I've watched the IMAX documentaries of Africa, Antarctica, Australia and Alaska. They all had amazing picture quality. Don't forget Planet Earth, it has some amazing sequences and the same for Relentless Enemies. I believe there are more IMAX nature documentaries coming out in Sept./Oct. that sounded pretty interesting. I've got Ganges, but haven't watched it yet. A few reviews have stated the picture quality isn't the greatest, I may watch it in the next day or so and get back to you. Have you seen Chronos? It might interest you.

Checkout "Sunrise Earth". You can buy it directly through the Discovery store online (might be in stores too, dunno). Basically it is scenery like Planet Earth except it just sits there with no soundtrack except the actual sounds of nature. Sounds like something you might be into. It's highly rated by ppl who like that sort of stuff and you can watch a sampling of the video online too.
