Default Universal using diffrent kind of discs?

So, I just bought my first two Universal blus (Mummy and Mummy Returns).

As I looked on the back side of the disc, I couldn't find the BVDL, BVSS codes... Instead, there were only the usual bunch of numbers....

I suppose that as new manufacturers get into play, we'll see different kind of discs. I just hope this will keep quality up and bring prices down.

Whatever disc they are using shouldn't really matter its the encodes that you have to worry about.
I must admit I dolike the look of the actual disc itself with the blu-ray logo on the bottom part of the disc.

I actually think the blu-ray disc looks good. I love U-Control. It is awesome. Universal certainly knows what they are doing.

There must be some new BD production capacity somewhere that doesn't stamp the usual matrix information. I noticed it earlier this year on several of the independent releases(ala Echo Bridge titles). The other Blu-ray studios are still using plants that use the standard identifiers. It's not quite as important as it once was as we now have computer scans to verify the size of the discs.

Mi copy of I Am Legend looks like the disc you're talking to. It doesn't look like the usual Sony-made BDs and it has the BD logo on both layers.

They have a lot of experience from producing really great HD-DVD's.

I have over 130 HD-DVD's and most of them are from Universal. They are all excellent.

Touche'! If they do that along with King Kong (director's cut) and Jaws for the holidays, I'll call it even for them being an early HD-DVD supporter!

Out of curiosity, do the discs respond when you talk to them? It makes a difference in the diagnosis. Either way, probably should take some time and talk with a therapist (or an analrapist, for "Arrested Development" fans.)

Meh... they have some great looking HD DVDs... but they also had some of the worst HD transfers out there, and notoriously botched many catalog titles with too much DRN and EE. They have a VERY mixed bad, and were at the bottem of the list (of all studios) for overall video quality back when someone on one of these boards (sorry, don't remember who) aggregated all the reviews of titles from multiple sites and came up with a composite video and audio score for each studio.

You know, Bourne is great and all, but Universal has some seriously excellent catalog titles. I want Jaws as soon as possible.

I didn't mean to mock you... it just struck me as funny, and I couldn't resist commenting. I hope you weren't offended.
