Default Rob Zombie's Halloween - Which Should I Get?

I want to buy Rob Zombie's Halloween on Blu-Ray.
Should I either get the:
U.S. Director's Cut
or
Theatrical Steelbook Edition

Here are the differences between the theatrical and the unrated:
Well, the biggest things for me are the escape scene. In the theatrical Michael murders like a whole part of the staff to get out. In the unrated, two men rape a woman in his room and play with his masks, pissing him off, he kills them and escapes. Or the second one is the ending.
[Show spoiler] In the theatrical, Michael was shot down by the police (I believe) and in the unrated, Laurie shoots his face off.

I don't know which one to get.

Pros For The Unrated U.S. Edition:
2 Discs Full of Special Features
The rape scene

(I have a region free player)

Pros For The Rated German Steelbook Edition:
It's a steelbook!!!!
The cover is awesome!
The escape scene in the hospital with killing the staff is just amazing.

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP! It's hard to tell which I should get.

Do you collect steel books?

If not go with the US Halloween.

When this came out I came across a copy of something called "Halloween Workprint". I guess this was more of the theatrical and unrated merged together. I wish they had released this version. Personally I prefer the theatrical cut to the unrated.

I wouldnt mind a copy of the Steelbook. Its hard to come by.

If you collect SB then get that one, if not the US version is far better.

If you can, get both, why not, your worth it.

Actually, both endings are the same with Michael getting shot in the face. The ending you're talking about is in the workprint. They made Rob shoot a new ending for the theatrical because the test screenings weren't that great.

Do you have a link as to where we can buy the steelbook? I'd like to get that as I prefer the theatrical version.

I enjoyed the workprint the most, out of the versions I've seen.

I liked the theatrical cut more.. work print kinda sucked. I have the 2 disc Unrated but I think I might buy that steelbook..its pretty cheap..has a good version of the film..and is a freaking steelbook.

Yeah I was bummed about that too! I hadn't see the theatrical cut, since well the theaters, but it premiered this last Saturday on HBO HD and was the first time I'd seen that version in quite sometime. I liked the theatrical escape quite a bit but the unrated cut is just so beyond insane..........I enjoy both cuts of the movie but I would have preferred a seamless branching so I could at least choose which version I wanted to watch in BD.

does the steelbook have the documentary? Zombie's making of's are excellent. I have Devil's Rejects on both blu and regular 2 disc DVD because I want to keep the documentary on the regular dvd that kicks ass. The 4 hour doc on Halloween is worth it's weight in gold as well.

The Japanese release by Geneon has both versions on separate discs:
http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B001O094B...2188600&sr=8-9

It's expensive though, probably more expensive than getting both the US DC and German SB. Unless you live in Japan and can get it with free shipping like me

edit: For those in Europe who are interested, it's probably region free. I haven't yet heard of any Geneon releases being locked, anyways.
