i'm horrible on resolution technical stuff but i think this might be it. native 720 is 1200x720(or something to that effect). yours as you can tell is slightly higher. i think it just automatically converts it to the best res and for your set that'd be 1080i. i know i'm probably wrong but i'm sure someone else can help you better. so consider this a free bump

The Ps3 has no scaler.. If your TV doesn't support 1080i or 1080p you are out of luck.

i think the OP wants it to display 720p but instead it's displaying 1080i

I think... for pretty much everything, you're gonna actually want 1080i, not sure why you want to force 720p..... I hear people prefer 720p over 1080i for sports, etc... but at that screen size etc.... 1080i is probably preferable....

I have the A330, the step below your TV but before returning to grad school I sold Tv's during collegfe for 5 years. From working with both of them I'm pretty sure at that size 720p/1080i is gonna be basically the same. When you get bigger sure you'll notice the difference but without a scaler you'll have to use 1080i

did you save the settings before closing out? ...there should be no reason you get 1080i if that option is not even checked.
