I mean I use it to lift up my computer screen and it does it's job fine methinks As for the videogames on disk dying, does that mean that my PS3 games are dying ? Even my cash is dying. They are saying ipods are selling less because people are buying all in one mp3 players. iPhone, and other cell phones are now mp3 players, so people can just carry one item to do it all. I agree with that point, why buy an ipod when I can get the iphone and get the ipod for free integrated in?

Anyway, The Cash thing is funny. I was Just at the mint in Philadelphia and even there they dont pick up the pennies that fall on the floor. Hundreds of them everywhere, but not a nickle coated coin out of place! Seems even at the mint the penny has no value. Last edited by ThePhantomOak; 07-29-2008 at 06:18 AM. |

I skipped the whole mp3 player only scene, myself. For about 2 yrs, my Sony Ericsson "Walkman" has served all of my mobile digital needs- aac player, FM radio, cell, IM, camera, and various other kitchen sink items that I rarely use.

![]() Blu-ray sales were up 350% (2.5x) year over year. That's inching along while holy downloads are an incredible 2x! Talk about spin crap. Note the misspelling of Blu-ray, to create "Blur" (a favorite of the red ants). Gary |

The article is a crock of B.S. It's filled with so many assumptions and hopeful guesses it doesn't have much, if any, credibility at all.
Out of the list of 6 items, phone books are about the only thing I see in serious trouble at all. That's followed by daily newspapers. I haven't seen magazines disappear from store shelves. And I get catalogs in the mail quite often. If any of those things were "dead" I wouldn't be seeing them anymore. DVDs aren't dead. They're just not cutting edge anymore. Portable music players will stick around for years to come. Lossy formats like MP3 and AAC will eventually become irrelevant as newer devices keep increasing capacity. The writer's claims about sales increases of movie downloads and Blu-ray Disc sales "inching along" is a pretty laughable attempt at spin. Video games on disc is a dead technology? Yeah, sure. ![]() The claim about video games on disc is even more ridiculous than Apple TV being a Blu-ray killer. Perhaps when it's possible to download 20GB or more of data for a game title in less than a few minutes games on disc might be dead. But that simply isn't happening for at least another decade. Cash is dead? There are drawbacks with cash (it can be counterfeited, paper money is very unsanitary, etc.). But "cashless" methods are not without serious problems either. |

I'm totally onboard with phonebooks going dead. I SO wish they would stop delivering them to me. All it does is sit. The one time I used it, over the past few years, was when I needed to hail a tow truck to bring my car to the shop for a new battery. Otherwise, that lump of paper is such a complete waste (for me, at least) to be constructed for me every year.
I'm also pretty liberated of the use of cash, as well. Pretty much the only time I bother to use it is because I would be embarrassed to use a credit card for a <$3.00 lone purchase. Probably the one recurring exception is if I happen to need something from a coin-op machine. |

Disagree with all but the phone book. What's worse is that I get them even more now. Once a year? I wish, I get 3 different ones twice a year. That is 6 4 inch thick books a year, all go to the trash.
