Sunsoft Revives Ikki For PlayStation 3

Compile Heart’s Neptune may not win the strangest game of the week award. Sunsoft is in the running with a revival of Ikki, an arcade game (pictured) where a sickle slinging farmer fights ninjas.



That was the plot of the original game. Ikki Online doesn’t seem that much different except you don’t have to be a farmer. You can join the ranks of the oppressive government who has ninjas in online battles. According to this week’s issue of Famitsu, Ikki Online supports up to twelve players with online lobbies. Players can talk to each other with icon chat.

Sunsoft designed Ikki Online with two graphic styles: classic and gorgeous. The latter has updated 3D models while classic uses retro graphics.

Since Ikki Online is a PlayStation Network title and Sunsoft has a US branch again, there’s a chance this could see a Stateside release.

Same here. I've heard of Ikki Tousen but not just Ikki. But with me trying to find out about this Ikki, this game is even older than me(meaning it's 25 years old).

I kind of wonder if this should be in the Playstation Network section though.
