Default Yamaha warning Help!

I just suggested my buddy buy the same Yamaha 663 as me and helped hook up his Polk rm6750 5.1 system. Now about 1 week later, we popped in Top Gun and when things get real loud: The system turns it self off and when you turn it back on it says : Check SP Wires. The wires are fine, he's using in wall 16 AWG wire, PS3 set to Linear, I need HELP!!!!

Ok- it is only displaying the warning when playing blu rays in dts-ma or true hd... the PLIIx and DD seem to be working fine at high volume, when we get past about -20 on the volume. Can anyone help?

It also could be a blown speaker. If a speaker is blown creating an impedance load of say 2 ohms this will shut down your amp. Do you own a multimeter?

Yeah, all the wires are great, pos-pos, neg-neg, wires aren't touching, etc. It only turns off when watching a blu-ray with DTS MA, or DTrue HD. We're watching ConAir on the DVR in Dolby Digital at full tilt and sounds great right now, I don't know....

thats strange. My old receiver would do that if I had it up to loud, but it wouldnt display anything. I only got Check SP wire when the wires were crossed.

OK- figured it out: Aparently my buddies wife "accidentally" pushed the speaker A/B button on the front and switched it to speaker set B. We switched it back to "A" and it works gloriously!!!!!!! Thanks for the help.
P.S. we sent his wife to bed without supper.
