Your TV more then likely has RCA connection so there will be very little difference.

Cable you need will be found packed with your new PS3.
Save for that 1080p ...you will not regret

Yes. Package has the composite cable.

You won't notice much difference with your setup. A tv that supports HDMI and 720p MINIMUM would be a great start.

However, your PS3 package will be your starting point. Get it, hook it up and enjoy. Go from there

Just to clarify, you'll want to check the back of your tv and/or the manual. I'm sure it doesn't have HDMI, but that scart cable is like the worst video connection you can make. There's a good sticky in the HDTV section explaining the different connections.

Enjoy your games and/or movies but understand that true HD won't come in until you get an HDTV.

I bought a 3-year extended warranty when I bought mine from WalMart. Where is your birthday present being purchased?

Upon further review, I only purchased a 2-year extended warranty, not a 3-year. The price was $58.88. I paid $599.99 for a PS-3 60gb at WalMart on 12/18/06.

Um... that's not a SCART cable. That's a composite video/stereo audio cable. SCART cables are only used in Europe and look completely different.

That aside, yeah, the included composite video cable will only get you SD video, but since that's all the OP has that may be fine.

To the OP... if your set has an S-Video connector (possible), or component video connectors (highly unlikely in a 20-inch CRT), you can get PS2/PS3 cables for those connectors that will improve the PQ very slightly on your existing set (better color separation basically). Of course you'll need HDMI or component video cable to get HD on your new set when you get it.

rragland,

I bought my Ps3 at Walmart in Nov of 06 with the same warranty you bought. It DOES turn out to be a 3 year warranty because it goes into effect after the factory 1 year warranty.

I did have to call the company that provides the warranty and set it up though but I'm covered till Nov 09 now.

Disneyguy,

Currently there is a coupon for Resistance Fall of Man at K-Mart for $10 off making the game $19.99. I don't know if it's a game you would like but it's perhaps the best PS3 game and it's cheap,.. so check it out. I picked up a copy yesterday and I'm really hooked on it.

Good Luck,

Brian
