Default Phil left Sony because of.......PS4????

And the clock strikes rumour o' clock. VG247 say that, according to "highly placed sources", they've learned why Phil Harrison left Sony. And it wasn't for an office door that read "Directeur Général Délégué". They say it was because development of the PS4 was about to kick off, and Phil just couldn't bring himself to go through the whole thing again.

Quote:
He could see he was about to get involved in another PlayStation cycle, and obviously wanted something new. The same thing was happening again and he’d been through it enough times to want to move on.
May be true, may not be true, either way, it's a possibility. We're just surprised Sony took so long to get started on the PS4, seeing as companies normally start on their next console as soon as they're finished the last one.

Hmmm, probably just rumors

aside from the "news" i'm actually glad sony is taking this long to start on the next console. The ps3 is still new. i don't want to see a ps4 hit shelves in a couple of years. i really don't like buying a console every 5 or so years. especially one that costs 600 dollars. i can't imagine what the PS4 is going to cost. plust games will more than likely be 69.99 each! seeing how games have climbed 10 dollars per console in the past. i'm just not ready for that yet. i know my comment doesn't have much to do w/ the topic but i just felt like getting that out.

lol heres a qoute from some one who answered the exact same question

Quote:
All companies well atleast in the gaming industry have plans when or a little bit after to either make a new console or to improve on it. Nintendo is already working on their next system as of now. So why wouldn’t Sony it takes Years and Years for them to research and develope their products to test and test and to see if its what Consumers want and need plus then they need to build the production Lines to Produce them and train people if their is any use for people to build them.. And if not they need to install Robots to do the job and that takes awhile to get the robots setup…

Also Ps2 is on its 9th year as we speak and Sony did not drop it. So why are you *****ing????

And also take this advice to when you read something on the internet its not always true i can go make a website and post reasons why a person left Sony myself…
oh and the whole $69.99 well i already pay $80 (£40)

not sure why europe is paying the eqivilent of 10 dollars more per game but imagine paying an extra $10. i don't mind that sony is still supporting the ps2 but you don't see me buying any games for it. it is outdated now that the ps3 is out. it would be like me still buying vhs movies because they're less expensive. (not gonna happen). i want the latest console and despite me complaining about the price, i will still buy it. i'm just complaining about the fact that they're putting down sony for actually taking time on their consoles just because some other money hungry companies are wanting to get their next POS out the door to be "newer" than the ps3. putting more pressure on sony to rush their product out the door. I'm more interested in the quality of the product and i praise sony for taking the time to put out a quality product. they are focused on making the ps3 better (adding trophey support, video store, new audio codec support, etc.) than focusing on "alright it's out the door what's next."

It is a possibility, but highly unlikely. The PS4 should mostly be a cake walk. You just use an advanced version of the current Cell, the next version of Nvidia's GPU (most likely their GPGPU), the coming version of the BD drive, etc. Development will be the easiest do to all the years of development on the PS3.

The PS4 seems it will be the smoothest implementation of a gaming console ever.

Scale of economy. Basically, they make more money.

I'll be sticking with the PS3 through it's 10 year life cycle.

Unless the PS3 has interactive, lifelike holograms. . . . then I'm in.

Actually, up until 360/ps3, games prices have DECLINED. Colecovision games up until genesis/NES were always about $49.99. The snes regulary had games that were $59.99 and $69.99, and the N64 also had 69.99 and up to 79.99 (Shadows of the Empire when it first launched) games. When the ps1/saturn came out, game prices stabilized at the high end being 49.99 and stayed at a highend of 49.99 until the 360 came out. So to say that games prices always increase with consoles, well, you are wrong.

PS4 may not take as long to develop. I'm willing to be that for the first time, Sony does not develop a new console with radically different arcitecture from the previous console. I guarantee you the PS4 will be very similar to PS3, just more powerful. It will still have the cell processor, more powerful and perhaps more than one. I'm also willing to bet that all of the development tools that are used on PS3 will be able to be used on PS4. I think Sony learned a valuable lesson this time around and will make sure they don't make the same mistakes next generation.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, i want the diference between MGS and MGS2 with PS3-4 not MGS2 and 3

I'd be Sony releasing a 360, just going round in a circle

we'll still have a big increase, i wouldnt worry. but i dont believe sony is gonna use souped up ps3 components in the ps4. they made plans for the ps3 to use the emotion engine..and we know how that turned out

ps4 is still a few years off and new tech will come and theyll go with that. unless of course you guys are saying cell as a multicore cpu, and not a cell 2 or 3, which i think is obvious.

ill eat my words if im wrong in 3 or 4 years, but i expct the same for you all lol.

DING DING!

Need more US Dollars to equal 1 Euro Dollar... if you needed more Euro Dollars to equal 1 US Dollar than the situation would be flipped.

In the magical world of made up money, we're all still paying the same price, and that's out the @$$

First off I really don't think there is any such graphics card(unless Google's lying or hes using another name differing from it's actual name) and there no way that it would be 4K , Nvidia just came out with there high high end card GeForce GTX 280 and there $950 at the most.

Well, thats why im asking. At the high end you have the GF GTX280 and the Radeon HD 4870x2. None can possibly do a game ( unless its like quake 1 in 4k)
