Question I need some advice please

Dear forum members

I hope someone can help with my quest at finding the right speakers.

These are the speakers that are on my mind at the moment to give you an idea of what i am looking for and in what kind of budget (around 400 Euro's)

Kef IQ9
Paradigm Monitor 7
Wharfedale Diamond 9.6
Infinity Beta 50
Focal Chorus 716V

I listened to a pair of Monitor Audio RS6, Focal's 816V's and a Danish brand i did not remember the name of. I disliked the monitor audio's because they kind of sounded like cans. I liked the Focal's their sound was much warmer but they were slightly over my budget.

Could you guys please give your opinion about those speakers or point me a pair that i did miss and really should take into account.

Kind regards

Can't go wrong with Paradigms.

Seeing that you like the 816v's and they are voiced the same - I would vote for the Focals (JM Labs) they are excellent speakers.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I was kind of leaning towards the paradigms but then again, i didn't listen to them, can someone maybe give me an idea of how the sound must be like?

How is the sound of the focal 716 compared to the 816?

Thanks again!

You owe it to your self to go listen as speakers can really very in preference. I always liked the Paradigms but can't say I have listen to them in many years now but I would hope they are just as good if not better. And as other say, you really can not go wrong with Focals but try to get a chance to listen to both

If you are interested in ultra high-end speakers, check High-End Palace.

I was going to buy the 606 until the forum members here changed my mind and I ended up buying the 663. I'm sure the 606 is good too, but I sure love my 663! I'm glad I chose it. I even persuaded a buddy of mine to buy the 663 and he loves it aswell... good luck with your purchases!

I was going to buy the onkyo to but i happen to find it very ugly! :P The eye wants something to you know The only thing i was worried about was how the Yamaha’s sound is like, i was told they sound like you put a sock over your head :P and if it has enough power to drive all speakers properly and to their full potential. Can't find a place to listen to it over here.

Oh and how about Dali speakers, any experiences with them? Just read about them and it looks like a respectable brand from Denmark.

Oh and excuse me for the many questions, happen to find the answers on this forum very useful in contrast to most forums

Dali speakers are excellent and highly rated. Read the following reviews:

If you have the money for Dali - go for it! Dali, JM Labs, Paradigm Reference (includes studio and signature series) - are all in the same price range. Go listen to all three and then decide . The Focal 716 series vs the 816 series - difference is bass output. From the midrange up the sound identical.

Gonna have to say that they were not set up properly. Monitors need proper set up and lots of power. The "can" effect is most likely an insufficient receiver.

Another brand you may want to look at is:
