Default onkyo txsr506

i found this on craigslist and they only want $200 for it. is it a good starter receiver? i know it has 3 hdmi inputs, so i know it's decent atleast. any advice??? please let me know asap, because if i need to jump on this i need to do it soon. thanks in advance!

its a good starting point but you maybe interested in doing a 606 or even a 663. Both of these recievers will pull your HD audio codecs off HDMI. Where the 506 will not. You can run multi-channel on it but no DTS-HD. my opinion save up the extra money and go with the 606 or the 663. That way you'll be ready for your hd audio in the future.

the 506 is passthrough.

If you want HD audio, this is not the receiver you want.

You want an Onkyo 605/606 or higher.
