Default HDTV hunt continues

Hey all,

I recently made a thread about making my decision to buy a Sony XBR4. At the last moment I made a switch decision and went out and got a 40'' Panny plasma. Now I am sitting here wondering... why didn't I get anything bigger? I budgeted it out, and I had money left because I am a big ol' cheapass.

So. Thusday I take the 40'' back. My question to you guys is, what would you suggest with a budget of $2500 after tax in the range of 42'' - 52'' in a Plasma or Samsung LCD. I have never been "die-hard" into Plasmas and i'd consider anything that people have some positive feedback towards. Ive read a bazillion reviews but I just prefer poster opinion to CNET. Im in Canada, by the way, so if anyone has great deals from Target, Frys or another US retailer, save me the frustration of seeing lower prices with a similar dollar value. My only concern is 1080p. Hz matters not.

Thanks guys!

Hmmmmm. With a budget of $2500 you can get a badass tv. Panasonic Vierra HDTVs never disappointed anyone and would rather take the Vierra over any tv but thats their opinion. With $2500, I would instantly purchase the Samsung TOC (Touch of Color) which possesses the following features: Automotion Plus, 120Hz, Four HDMI inputs, and more. Let me post a link as I'll be back.

If you want to go bigger you could get a projector like the Sanyo PLV-Z2000, $2495 with a 600 mail-in rebate through the end of September to spend on a screen.

My 3 suggestions

Samsung LN46A650 LCD
Sony KDL-46W4100 LCD
Panasonic TH-50PZ85U PLASMA

Go down and look at them and decide what is your favorite. I only favor the Sony slightly cause of the 24 fps. But my heart is with Samsung for LCD, or Panasonic if I were to go Plasma. Each is priced right around $2300-2400. So you would go slightly over the $2500 mark.

I'd go with the PDP-5010FD 50" Pioneer KURO plasma.

It's $2,599 right now from Tiger Direct with free shipping and no tax.

Blows all LCD's away.

Wow that's nice! You can't beat that!

On another note, the TH50PZ80 is 2199.99$ on sale at Bestbuy Canada. But if you can get the Pioneer, get it!

Better yet, buy the TH50PZ80 from me and I'll get the Pioneer :P
