Unbelievable. No one can replace Tim Curry. I wouldnt mind a Blu of the original, but a remake.....why?

Ha ha ha ha !!! And MTV is involved in this !. What did you expect? There have been so many lazy (and empty) heads running MTV the last few years.

RHPS is not my cup of tea particularly, but it's a fact that the movie is a cult classic. And the reasons why it has become a classic cannot be repeated. Hence, the idea of remake this movie is very stupid to say the least.

just kind of wish HD DVD was around, so we could hear them tell us how HUGE this is gonna be for the format.

I expect it to flop on its face.

Fans of RHPS will hate it, non-fans of RHPS will hate it.

There are just certain movies that need to be left alone. This is one of them.

I've heard it all now.The original is a bona fide cult classic....what do they think they are going to accomplish with a remake?

They'll probably just throw in stars from "High School Musical".

Is this something that people actually watch at home? I've seen it dozens of times, but they've all been in a theater with hot dogs, toilet paper and obscenities flying through the air.

Nah. Zac Efram is way too effeminate to play a convincing transsexual transvestite.

Remakes are not getting outta control, they ALREADY ARE out of control! It's starting to get plain ridiculous. Within the next 5 years we will be getting remakes of Alien, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc.. Stop the F*ckin' remakes already and get original or we are NEVER going to have any new franchises to love.

Default Creator Richard O'Brien is angry

At least, the creator of Rocky Horror Picture Show is out of the new "project", as reported by the BBC.

QUOTE:
"It was announced on Wednesday that the new version, which will be co-financed by Sky Movies in the UK and MTV in the US, would be co-produced by O'Brien.
But he told the BBC he would not be involved "in any way".
"I have no view on whether it should be remade but it doesn't have my blessing," he added.

"Sky announced on Wednesday that Lou Adler, executive producer on the original film, would return in the same role, while O'Brien would co-produce.
But O'Brien told the BBC: "I'm not co-producing it and I won't be involved in any way.
"The first I heard about it was when people sent me cuttings from US papers."

"Lou Adler said: "The Rocky Horror phenomenon has a life of its own that has reincarnated itself in numerous ways since its birth.
"Our hope has always been that each new endeavour and rebirth will expose the Rocky Horror experience to new audiences and expand the fan base."
END OF QUOTE

I guess Adler ommited that his hopes are for big bucks too.

The complete note is here:

If they have ANY foresight, they'll tackle the A Clockwork Orange remake as well.

Next thing you know they'll be remaking The Day the Earth Stood Still, and having it star Keanu Reeves.
