Default Take a look at this lastest Toshiba move.

http://www.twice.com/article/CA6599365.html?nid=2402

They go into some detail on imdb about their plans for putting movies on them. But this is an interesting move. I dont think that this will work out but interesting never the less. It could work if you sold with a dvd or bluray copy but not individually with everyone using ipods and they do not take sd cards. I am curious though to see what hear what everyone thinks about this.

LOL!

If I was going to go to a store to rent a movie, I'd just pick up a Blu-Ray! The whole point of Digital Download is convienence, not price. I think that they've totally missed the mark on this one.

Whats with Toshiba? They never give up, do they? They always attempt to be creative so they can impress the big man in charge but everything usually falls apart in the end.

Stores would probably like it. While your movie downloads you'll be stuck walking around the store and probably make an impulse purchase or two.

your ps3 might have one depending on the model, it would play the same way a BD has.

or you just buy a SD card player if these things would take off. your tv could play it fine.

i don't think that the system would work where you download it at the store.

i think there would be a kiosk where this thing already downloaded, you go up there swipe your CC or put in cash, select your movie, insert your SD card and it copies the movie onto your SD card in about 45 sec. no worse than checking out a BD.

don't get me wrong, this is a dumb idea, maybe in the future this is how this will work but now is not the time.

MOD Systems currently offers retailers a digital media delivery system that enables consumers to download digital content for burning to an optical format.

if i was going to burn it to dvd/blu i would have just bought the blu!!!

most important thing is to check with your broker and make sure you don't have any investments any way associated with Toshiba, the company is clearly run by a group of insane people.

Yep. Someone always has to come up with a stupid idea to compete with the superior format. Thanks for the unmatched competition Toshiba.

So you have to do all this:
1) drive to a store with a kiosk
2) try and find what you want, and then download it onto an SD card
3) wait in line, pay, then drive home
4) Burn this onto an optical disk
5) play

Instead of just buying dvd/bluray? Seriously?

I had a similar discussion with a friend months ago. I explained to him then that kiosks is a stupid idea with no meaningful benefits.

Please calm down I am at 80% ok? I'll be done in a minute! *looks at line behind him*

No thanks. You can already download SD movies directly to your home on your media box already by several services. This is so stupid and too late.

"Initial downloads will be in standard-definition content, but HD downloads are being considered for the future."

Wow, I can't wait to watch crappy SD content on my high def set... what a great 'idea' Toshiba.

Glad you're "considering" HD content.

I'm going to consider not laughing at you...

Maybe Toshiba gets such great tax write-offs that it's profitable for them to throw money away.

LOL... but they don't even come close to making 50GB memory cards... yet! How could I enjoy a Blu-ray quality presentation from an 8GB file?!?!?!

I honestly think that Toshiba forgot to take its medication and is drooling all over it's cheap paper gown again!!!
