Default out of phase yamaha 663

I recently purchased the 663 and ran the set up. An error came up telling me my speakers were out of phase. Since I am 100% sure they are wired correctly I don't understand this. The 663 is replacing my v2500 which did not give me any errors which is why I can say the neg/pos wiring is correct. For the heck of it, I switched the wires and the error went away. Now what?

If its the FR speaker giving you problems try swapping the wires at the receiver with the FL and see if the problem follows the speaker or the receiver output.

I guess if they're working fine now. Leave them crossed....maybe the speaker terminal is internally crossed .

I have heard of phoney "out of phase" warnings from the Yamaha YPAO - these are to be ignored.

It told me they were all crossed which is why I switched all of them. When I re-ran the set up everything was fine. My problem is that I know for sure they are wired correctly. My other amp ran the same setup and did not give me the out of phase error which is why I'm confused. Believe me, little stripe, equals red terminal. I also made up banana clips so there is no mistake. I've read other forums where they are saying it is a 663 problem so forget it. Since I don't understand it, I can't let it go and accept opposite wiring, which is why I'm hoping someone has an answer.

Just to make sure, I ran the setup on the 663 in our store. It was correctly wired and the the setup didn't give me any problems. No mention on anything being out of phase. But as some of the others suggested, It maybe that the wiring is crossed in the unit. Also when it works fine now everything should be ok. Because if they were out of phase you would definitely hear it.

Opposite wiring will give you the same result just as long as all speakers are wired the same way (on the same phase).

In the Yamaha manual it says that the out of phase error message "may appear depending on the speakers even when the speakers are connected correctly" and to "check the speaker connections for proper
polarity (+ or –)". Therefore, if you are sure that your speakers are set up the right way just ignore the message. Maybe somebody from Yamaha or your speaker manufacturer could explain to you why for certain speakers you might get this error message but other than that you're good stop worrying.

Just to add...the first 2 times I ran YPAO on my 863 I also had an out of phase error. Before running setup a 3rd time I repositioned the mic up higher in the listening field and all was well and no errors.

If you know for a fact they are wired right, then just skip the wiring check before you run YPAO.
