Default Yoroiden Samurai Troopers (Ronin Warriors) getting Blu-ray box set in Japan

Goes on sale December 5, 2018 for 50,000 yen.

Contains 39 TV episodes and all three OVA's (Gaiden, Kikoutei Densetsu & Message).

Remastered in HD from the original film elements. Kind of curious if the first episode of Gaiden will be an upscale. They didn't seem to have the film master for it when making the remastered R2 DVD (lots of ghosting, especially noticeable when pausing to make screen grabs.)

YST is currently licensed by Discotek, so hopefully this means we'll be getting a US release sometime in 2019.

The remaster is quite impressive. For a series that was made in the 80's and often had very darkly lit scenes, the details from the blu-ray are amazing:

A comparison between the DVD release (upscaled to 1080p) and the same frame from the blu-ray. I know some may prefer the darker tones, but the details revealed by remaster are pretty cool:

Also regarding the first episode of Gaiden, they must've found a master to work from because it looks just as good (maybe even better?) as the remastered series episodes:

I will buy this if Discotek poops it out, though I don't know if they will bother with it.

I would totally get it, love Ronin Warriors, one of the first non Pokemon anime I ever watched as a young lad. Since it was just released in Japan, I'm sure it would be a year of two away from being made available to the U.S.

Hmm the extra detail and "truer" colors are nice, but that is also way too bright at the same time. Is this a comparison to the Discotek DVD release or the old Bandai DVDs?

Gosh I hope we get a Bluray release here in the US with the dub some day here, but something tells me that's very unlikely at this point.

Already pre-ordered my copy from Rightstuff. $52 is a steal considering it's both the TV & OAV episodes, the classic Ronin Warriors/Bandai dubs and fully subbed.

Was going through some of the Twitter threads from people who worked on the bluray and it seems that I've been vindicated in my belief that episode 2 was the pilot episode and was dubbed first.

I preordered immediately finding out it was coming to blu ray in North America. I have the complete Bandai dvd collection with the OVAs. I’ll still hold onto them but definitely ready for an upgrade
