I have to say that I am somewhat depressed with the thought that the two would even be considered in the same sentence. The Godfather is a classic of historic preportions and will still be watched 100 years from now. Kill Bill is by far my least favorite Tarantino movie. I would rank his as Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown, Grindhouse, and then Kill Bill. Don't get me wrong, I like Tarantino a lot as a director. I can't wait for Inglorious Bastards (hopefully the Germans will speak German in it), and I may be one of the few that really loved Grindhouse (the theatrical version, mind you). While I think Godfather 3 is certainly not up to the first two, I just don't see any question as to the comparison. Get Godfather or you will wake up with the fishes.

Regardless of what you choose, you can expect Kill Bill to get excellent blu-ray treatment from Miramax (disney/BV) and it will probably be the bigger blu-ray upgrade from the DVD given its style, age, and studio alone. |

The Godfather. One of the best and the blu-ray is sure to be stellar.
I'm debating if I should wait for Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair. I love both movies but I can't stand double dipping. I went through that too many times with DVDs and refuse to with blu-ray (I say that now but I know I'll do it). |

I can't want to see the new restoration of the Godfather on Blu. I'd say get that! Kill Bill can wait and I'd also hold off until the whole bloody affair comes out...which will be sometime around when Star Wars makes it's mark on blu lol.

Godfather for sure. [One of the few reasons I wish it was the end of September already. Actually, it's about the only reason.
![]() Kill Bill, love it too, but me I already have the DVDs so I'm holding out for "The Whole Bloody Affair" if/when that ever makes it to blu-ray. Just not seeing it being worth another 40 bucks at this point in time. [Edit: Not that I really think 80 bucks is what Godfather Trilogy should be costing these days, but in this case it should be worth it.] Last edited by fdm; 08-10-2008 at 04:43 PM. |
