Default Have Paramount dropped the PCM Soundtrack on Transformers? <- TrueHD

The reason i asked is that a short while ago i looked at scans (eripmedvd) and i states that audio is just Dolby TrueHD and no mention of the Uncompressed PCM or indeed DD+ that we were initially informed would be on the disc. Can anyone confirm or deny whether this is so.

TRANSFORMERS really delivers on all of the promises of the Blu-ray technology and we’re happy to finally bring Michael Bay’s true vision to life with this release,” said Rob Moore, Vice Chairman, Paramount Pictures. “Because of Blu-ray’s expanded capacity we are able to elevate the bit rate used for the picture as well as present uncompressed audio in the form of Dolby True HD

It's TrueHD only. Check out the back cover scan at DVD Empire.

The only mention of audio I see on the back cover is the TrueHD symbol. There is no symbol for PCM that they can put on the bottom of the back cover so if they have said it will have PCM, then it will probably still have PCM. This release is due out pretty soon, I would imagine that if they had dropped any audio tracks, we would have heard about it by now.

Regardless of whether they have dropped PCM or not, that TrueHD track is going to sound incredible.

just a couple more weeks and we will have transformers then at the end of September we will have Iron Man

It is confirmed by Mr.Bill Hunt that Transformers will include only DolbyTHD but a new encode supervised by Mr,Bay.

whats wrong with just TrueHD? Is it because your receiver doesn't accept that type?

DTHD should be just fine as long as it is 24-bit. Uncompressed audio or DTHD at 24-bit should be no difference.

I'm excited about this coming out, because I know a lot of hd-dvd fanboys made a point of saying that DD+ at 1.5mbps was just as good as lossless. I want to hear Transformers in lossless to compare with the lossy track. I will make a prediction that the bass levels and overall "thickness" to the sound will be much improved. I remember being blown away in theaters with a wall of sound, and I never really got that immersive feel from the hd-dvd version. Transformers NEEDED a lossless audio track, and now it gets one.

I agree, no complaints here as long as it's one of the lossless formats.

While I have no doubt that TrueHD will sound better than DD+, your theater experience had nothing to do with the bitrate of the soundtrack. That wall of sound that blew you away was 320kbps Dolby Digital.

Either PCM or 24-bit TrueHD track would sound great. Paramount has done a great job on their post-format war releases so far, and I'm betting Transformers will be no different.

Iron Man was never out on HD-DVD. This is the first release of the film to DVD and Blu-ray.
I think you will enjoy this movie, it is still among the best of the year.

I personally don't care if it is PCM or not. As long as it is lossless, it is good enough for me. The slight differences, if there are any (which is debatable), are not enough to benefit one over the other to me. Both sound awesome and I am looking forward to seeing this movie at home.

I just wish more films would support lossless 7.1.

My question - why don't they. If Lionsgate can put it on every release (heck, even their lame comedies come with 7.1 lossless!) - why can't the other major studios.

Like I've said before, for $30-$40 a disc, I should have the best quality with the most options on every disc - nothing less.

Most films are not mixed in 7.1.

Mi Casa who handles Lionsgate's releases created DISCRETE 7.1 mixes for their mixes. They used to do the same for New Line as well until WB took over New Line's operations. Disney's has "Sleeping Beauty", and "A Nightmare Before Christmas" (among others) coming out with 7.1 sound, and odds are that they will be discrete as well, but the other studios do not appear to see much benefit in it...
