Default UK PS3 Avalibility

Just wondering how anyone from the UK here is planning on getting a PS3?

AFAIK the only way to reserve one at the moment is by buying it in a bundle with a 4GB PSP, on HMV.co.uk.

I've seen the bundle on Play.com, but thats first come first serve.. so theres nothing concrete.

I asked at my local woolworths, i'm in a pretty small town so my name was only second in a book of names.
I was told I will have to pay all £425 in advance.

I've been waiting long enough and want to get the PS3 on realese day.. and finally get to watch my Blu-Ray's.

So does anyone know of any websites taking pre-orders?

I managed to get 2 order slots down at a independant retailer in Scotland.just before he was swamped by demand.

The woolworth option doesnt seem to bad if your 2nd on the list

Little off topic (or is it off the Island...)

Here in Belgium, I wanted to preorder at a real Sony Centre, but they could only deliver the 20 gig version. Went to MediaMarkt, a big electronics megastore, and they could take my preorder for a 60 gig set.

I think I read there would only be 60 gig versions available on release day. Not so.

I also wanted to go to a shop where I could get my PS3 on midnight, but seems no shop is that hopefull of getting that much supply to be worthwhile opening the shop at midnight. They seemed not to be trusting Sony getting a lot of PS3's per shop.

I am number 2 on the list, so I'm quite hopefull getting one on my birthday. (23th of march)

I've got a load of Argos vouchers, and I signed up to their email alert system, so hopefully very soon I will get an email from them inviting me to pre-order.

Seems you can allready order it from Argos for £424.99

# All orders of Playstation 3 console, accessories and software prior to 23rd March 07 will be delivered from the date of launch. Argos will only take pre-orders against a pre-agreed launch allocation from the supplier. Argos will stop taking pre-orders once this allocation has been sold. Argos will never knowingly oversell the console, accessories or the software. Argos will endeavour to deliver on the launch date. However, should the supplier fail to deliver on time, or part deliver Argos' launch allocation, Argos will deliver to customers in strict chronological order, which may be after the launch date. Argos can not be held responsible should a software publisher delay the release of a software title. Should this happen, Argos will keep you informed and either deliver on the revised software launch date, or offer a refund or replacement.

Thumbs up

There are loads of places you can pre-order from Play, Littlewoods, Argos...

There are a quite a few websites which give you all the details. I get my info from www.ps3-preorder-fever.co.uk

I have ordered a bundle from Littlewoods but there are two other retailers online that you can buy the PS3 console on it's own from. It's all on that website anyway.

You can order the PS3 instore from HMV but you can only order it online if you buy a PSP too? Unbelievable!

And enjoy your ps3 Blu_Ray_2007

I have loved mine from the day the power came on and I used the OS. I fell deeper in love when I popped in Resistance: Fall of Man and Fight Night Round 3 -

But was it true love or just lust?

Well when I watched ANt Bully in 1080p bluray goodness on my Sony 46" LCD HDTV,

I knew it was for real. The deal was done.

oooey gooey HD goodness at the press of a button.

Dont forget to check out the gaming, its not just some "bonus" feature built around blu ray. PS3 is one of the best Blu Ray players on the market, the best media center (one the cell optomized drivers are finished, being worked on now, check out this demo of FULL HD playback on PS3 Linux, 1080p http://www.onlinelib.de/ps3/ps3CellFlvPlayer.html ) soon to be around,
and one of the best gaming experiences to be had.

Enjoy, I know I do everyday.

Well i am an EX game empolyee, i know that game are starting there PRe order scheme on SAT 10th Feb. £50 deposit.
Now the only trouble with Game is they usually try and push package deals on you or say thats the only way the consoles are available!
THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THIS!!!!!

If you order a machine from them and you only want the machine stand up to them and they will give in.

Also i have mine pre order from a small independent shop they have had a letter from sony saying they are getting over 30 machines on launch, this gives me hope that the bigger shops will have alot of stock!

Anyway congrats to all the people who have preordered there machines and good luck hunting to everyone else.

I planned on getting the PS3 before I got into BR.
For me its just the ultimate dream system.. next gen games, and movies.. all in a very nice looking box.

Now the waiting game begins..

ordered my PS3 back when play first announced it for pre order. bought a usa version last year and i really like the system, and as a disc player its a delight, really quick. Just need some decent games. resistance was OK for a console game but pretty average for FPS.

But i really like it, and i have an xbox 360 as well.

Play sent out emails a week or to ago confirming if you are getting a launch model or not. I am, so cool. I just so wish BR was not region encoded for films, dont the BDA realise how much europeans hate regional encoding for movies? I hate to say it but this does give HD-DVD an edge in peoples opinions.

Yeah the region coding is annoying.. ecsepcially with the amount of great R1 titles coming out.

HD-DVD has no edge imo

well it is at present it is more popular in europe to be a supporter of HD-DVD.

that may change, but at present i have both formats, but BR is whats impressing me right now.

Good news for you guys in Euroland and probably Australia & New Zealand as well (or the entire PAL teritorries)...

If you've read the other thread, then you would know that the first 500,000 units of PS3 (for Europe) that get registered to the Playstation Network will receieve a free copy of Casino Royale on Blu-ray DVD.

So starting March 23, you guys in PAL land know what to do...

Completely paid for, and Argos assure me it will be delivered to my door on 23rd March.

Casino Royale is now being released on March 19th, so I will definitely have it in time for the PS3.
