Default New batman game (not tdk)

http://www.gamersdailynews.com/story...-Unveiled.html

"Before we get you confused, this is a completely different game than what has been mentioned of The Dark Knight, that has been rumored (the only answer we got was, "We (EA) haven’t announced a superhero game.") between Pandemic and EA.

The new game, Batman: Arkham Asylum will be published by Eidos and developed by Rocksteady Studios. According to Game Informer’s August Edition, "This completely original title explores Gotham City’s darkest location, the infamous Arkham Asylum. But as a routine prison transfer goes wrong, the Joker sets his demented plan into action and Batman comes face to face with an army of his worst enemies. In a dark and gritty setting reminiscent of Bioshock (with a story co-written by Paul Dini), Arkham Asylum is setting the stage for a true-to-character Batman game." The edition will be out August 18th, with two different cover.

Batman: Arkham Asylum will be on the PC, X 360 and PS3 , the release date at this point is 2009. According to the article, the story is written by Paul Dini (Batman: The Animated Series, Detective Comics). The story is not tied into any movie or show, and will be on the darker side of the Dark Knight. The story will start out with Joker surrendering himself and subsequently taking over Arkham because of some secret the facility holds.

We tried to do a bit of further investigating and ran into something interesting. Rocksteady Studios site has the Batman Insignia on it, and some sort of countdown, but we still can’t seem to figure out what its for. If you can figure it out email me wade [at] gamersdailynews.com, and your right, Ill send you something.

Edit: We’ve also learned that it may be on the Unreal Engine 3.0 and the licensing includes all 70 years of comic books, so this story could be wide open, or may have many, many addons."

... or your taste in films is utter crap? The new Batman series are by far the best superhero movies ever made. Very few come close, the rest fail miserably.

As for this game, won't get my hopes up. Wasn't the last Spider-man game different from movies too? It ended up stinking more. At the end, it really doesn't matter if games are based on movies or yet. It's all in developers' hands. Chronicles of Riddick proves that even a crap movie can turn into an awesome game.

mmm... nah i'm sure the new batman movies sucked, only reason this one got so much press and attention was because of a death of an actor... not because it was a great film, in my opinion anyways.

I bet the best super hero movie ever made will go to the Watchmen!

I've actually been hoping for new non-licensed Batman game. My hope was for a mix of GTA style sandox with dark, gritty tones. Sounds like it's at least halfway there, with the Bioshock reference.
Another big component would be with the Nolan style realism. It would be an interesting mix if you had Clayface, Mr. Freeze, and Killer Croc in there.

Wow...the only other person I know that didn't like at least one of those two movies is my little 12 year old sister who doesn't know what a good movie is.

She thinks Batman & Robin is the only good Batman movie (after she said this, I learned to never listen to her opinion on anything).

I think these two new Bat flicks are just as pathetic and retarded as Batman & Robin, haha

Ha! everywhere I post my opinion about these films people seem to get butt hurt, just an opinion people... i'm not talking about YOUR taste in movies just expressing MY taste... or rather, hate for these films, haha

Personally, I believe that even Batman and Robin was Better than Batman Begins. But I believe the Dark Knight was good for a comic book movie, but Batman is over-rated as it is. He's not that great... but the Joker is where it's at, and the joker in this movie was great.

Hopefully this whole "I want a Gritty Game" thing doesn't translate into a black blob in an indistinct blob factory

Just hope it's good. I haven't played a good Batman game yet (though looking forward to MK vs. DC).
