Over here
Default Resurrected PS2/1 games

I have found that scratched disks (Kids are rough on disks) that were rendered unplayable on my PS2 now work fine on my PS3. Specificallly, on Final Fantasy 10 the FMV of Sin attacking Zanarkand (near the start) would sputter and end up in a black screen, requiring a restart of the PS2. I put the disk in to the PS3 and played through. No problems through to Mount Gagazet so far. Parappa the Rapper (ps1) would sputter and die on the opening when played on my PS2. On the PS3 it goes through with a few audio pops and a quick video flicker. If you have any old disks that met with a mishap you might want to give them a try. I'd like to dee if others had similar results.

Also I've noticed that the most minor scratches on a dvd can make them act up on those $30 Walmart special DVD players ( I am not buying my children expensive DVD players), but bring those discs to the family room and put them in the PS3 - no problem.

What do you think makes the difference - better laser, better error correction, a combination of both or something else.

P.S. Maybe I should have asked in the Insider's forum.

i love playing old games through the ps3,
i swear ps3 shortens loading time,
some games run so much better aswell, such as Shadow of The Collosus the graphics look so much more crisp and the framrate seems slightly better.

this may just be me.... :S

only on a few games... eg. San andreas, Fifa 07 theses chug along very slow

i tryed out medal of honor frontline and the game seemed to fly along. on the opening level where you storm the beach, the soldiers seemed to running out of the boats a hell of a lot quicker than they did on ps2
