Default Just got a new TV.. Thinking of swapping it..

So my birthday was last week and as a gift my mom bought me a 42" LG 1080p 120hz set from Best Buy.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1208562169727

This is my first LCD TV.. I think the picture is noticeable improvement over what I had before, especially watching blu but my mom doesn't think it looks good enough. Keep in mind though that she has a Pioneer Elite Plasma.. but even so, she says it doesn't look as good as the ones at Best Buy.

She says the image looks soft/fuzzy.. and I won't lie, I do notice it sometimes as well as some grain/saturation/fuzziness depending on what I'm looking at..

Now since she dropped the nearly $2,000, she says I should swap it.. but for what? Is there something I should do to the TV first? Or is she constantly going to be disappointed with Plasma vs LCD?

So a Sony or Panasonic would be a considerable upgrade to the LG? Better than a Samsung too?

Damn you have a nice mother! Now I'm wondering why my parents decided to have kids. My parents never buy me stuff like that.

But I'm happy with what I got for myself. Mine is a 32" Sharp Aquos 1080p with 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.

My mom had her plasma and blu-ray player way before I did. She was the one telling me "No, you need 1080p. You should get 120hz too."

Panasonic or Pioneer for plasma no questions.

Sony or Samsung for LCD no questions.

looks like your leaning more towards lcd so id go with a samung A650 or A750 series LCD.

My friend who works at Best Buy does not recommend a Plasma for me. She says my room has a lot of windows and I'll get glare.. and I like to fall asleep watching TV so I'd have burn-in Day 1.

The Panasonic Plasma is the best tv you can get if you take price into consideration.
LCDs don't have the black levels that plasmas do and hence have a less detailed picture, and lower contrast levels.

Since you're leaning LCD, these 2 you highlighted would be the best.

Samsung 40" 1080p 120Hz LCD
SKU 8793433
$2,099.99 before $300 Savings
$1,799.99

Sony 40" 1080p 120Hz LCD
SKU 8808276
$1899.99 before $200 Savings
$1,699.99
