Default Don LaFontaine dies

While his name might not be familiar, Don LaFontaine is pretty much known to everyone as the "trailer guy." The famous voice behind hundreds of trailers has passed away due to a pneumothorax, also known as a collapsed lung.

It'll be interesting to see how the Academy acknowledges his work at next years Oscars. Perhaps they'll use old trailer voice-overs of his to narrate the whole R.I.P section.

Wow. That guy has really done everything and yet so few knew his name till now.
He's a funny guy, and he will be missed.

I hope the future generations of announcers will be influenced by him.
He is the voice of movies.

In a world where people die from devastating lung disease...

I'll bet Don smoked like a chimney with that raspy "I have cancer" voice. Does anyone know what Don died from?

Maybe they could use Richard Simmons to replace Don Fontaine's voice on future movie trailers. I think it would work out just fine.

Rest in Peace, Don. We will miss you.

Sad...this guy was THE voice. He was like the Clapton of trailer voice-overs, instantly recognizable. He will be sorely missed.

Great voice.

He will me missed.

The only thing he did which I wasn't happy about was that he was also the voice for HD-DVD. Bet he got a penny for it though. S'pose it was just another job to him too.
