Thumbs down I Boycott Blu-ray Movies

Personally I think Blu-Ray movies are too expensive. I've only purchaesd 30 since they came on the market. It's been a while since I've bought any. When I go into a store (in Ottawa) and see the price it really ticks me off.

So now, I won't buy any until the price comes down. I prefer to rent new releases, and if I'm in the mood the oldies.

And of course go to the Show.

I hear ya, I rent most movies, as I can't watch most movies over and over again. Then when i rent them, i make sure I get a good deal like 2 for 1. The movie has to be brilliant before I will want to watch it over and over.

Yes, it's only been around and on the market for 5 years - consumer version / movie distribution for 2 years.

I have to boycott too because my salary sucks. But then again, I'll watch a movie and won't watch it for a very long time unless its worth watching again.

<----------------This is one movie I can repeatedly watch.

after my initital splurge of blu ray purchases, ive slowed down, and too havent bought one in awhile. i tend to always wait for sales, unless its a must own for me. i dont have money to throw down on every blu i want unfortunately.

i wouldnt boycott them all-together, just be more selective. and wait for prices to drop or for them to go on sale. and sadly, you have to avoid brick & mortar stores.

Of course it is, but it doesn't mean you have to buy in to it!

It called being patient and deal searching and most blurays can be had at the price of DVD or cheaper if you shop online and avoid "STORES" as you mentioned and here is an example.

BLU-RAY

DVD

BLU-RAY

DVD

Damn good examples if you ask me. You need to double check where you shop!

you knew how much the movies cost before you bought into the technology right? if not you should have done some research before hand. as the old saying goges, "you get what you pay for" and that is true with blu ray.

do i make a lot of money? no! am i happy to pay what the price is listed at? yes, because i knew what i was getting myself into! Of course i will be happy when the price comes down, but i am not going to "boycott" or complain about it when i knew what the prices were like before i got the player!

I boycott DVDs. Average video; average audio; priced too high for less than good enough. Spending money on DVDs is money wasted.

That and you have to remember and I try to tell people this. DVD's were the same price the first few years it was out. Dropped when VCR Tapes started dissapearing.

Basically Give it time. It sucks but thats life. Full of sucking

I stopped buying blu-rays on their release date because of the following reasons:

1. I feel deceived when the prices drop tremendously.
2. I am unemployed at this time.
3. Get tired of watching a movie after viewing it once.
4. Can make a small profit when you buy a 2-1 deal and sell them.

So when the price comes down (and it will), does that mean we will be getting less because we paid less? I always thought it was simply supply and demand, but I guess it's "you get what you pay for"

My rule is.. buy what I really want now, and when the price comes down, get those movies I may be half-hearted about (that would be as price comes down, demand goes up).

There are a ton of movies that are low cost.

How much does it cost you to go to "a show"? Of course then you only watch it once and that's it. It's not an "investment" really.

Sometimes you just have to shop around a bit.

HD DVD sells their movies for $10 now, you should look into it. 1 problem though, they dont sell new movies anymore. Not sure why, something about blu ray winning a format war or something
