i bought a package deal from a place called projectionguys.com i bought the panny ae2000u projector and the package came with a 106" elite grey screen and a mustang flush ceiling mount. now my plan was to mount the screen on the wall then mount the ceiling mount. run the wires across the ceiling and drilling a hole that leads to a closet where all the equipment is. dosnt seem too hard, im not an idiot. well i went to tweeter today asking their opinions on wires for the speakers. then i asked him bought mounting a projector and he just went on to say how its very difficult and it can be tricky and all that good stuff. then i got all discouraged , i asked him how much they charge to do it all and they would charge 700 and somthing. well thats alil pricey. any suggestions guys? is it really that hard?

![]() OP, yeah, it's not that hard.... $700 huh?? If I were charging $700 for projector installations, and you asked me how hard it was, I'd tell you that it was damn near impossible to do too...... ![]() Just take your time, measure everything twice, use the "Throw distance calculator" and you'll be all good. |

i wouldnt consider it to be hard to install, but it does take a good amount of research and some tweaking.
first off, check out our pj threads here, there are a number of great informational postings here, and research material. a quick rundown would be. 1. how big is the screen gonna be? 2. after you determine that, find out the throw distance you need to get that screen size. 3. then the angle. 4. from the angle, is it going to be ceiling mounted? or table top? 5. noise issues, will this be close to the listening area? as a carpenter would say, measure twice, cut once. you have to put this all on paper, and do some math to come up with a great game plan. viable tips tho i would suggest is 1. to avoid turning on the pj off and on for brief moments in time. it is critical because it does shorten the life span of your bulb. 2. remember: the cool down period of the bulb is essential in keeping that bulb work longer for you. 3. did you get your replacement bulb yet? i always consider telling people to buy one as well, when you buy your pj. reason? simple. you will need it eventually, and heck might be able to get a sweet deal considering your supplier. i like to keep one handy, just in case i am on the last 10 minutes of a movie im watching and it suddenly craps out. good luck. its my day off, so im going offline in a few. im sure a couple of others would chime in. maybe the mods can move this to the pj section? ![]() |

I agree with everybody else. Setting up your projector shouldn't be hard especially with a projector as flexible as the panasonic. If you're worried about hanging it upside-down, then make a shelf that hangs from the ceiling. But honestly, there shouldn't be any problems with mounting your projector until you need to replace the lamp (which should be a long time before you have to do that).

take your time and study the specs on the pj, and also put your room dimensions in perspective. when you get the pj mounted and turn on, THATs when you determine your pj screens details. |

you could, but then again, is this permanent? try to mount it without adjusting the lens shift on it, to get the best picture out of your projector.
-use the throw calculator - find out the viewing distance - get the measurements and see how low/high, you will setup your pj. - after you do this, then mount the screen and adjust accordingly. ive already given you sound advice as to how to properly tackle this, i hope others would chime in at this point. it seems you prefer a short cut and avoiding any extensive labor out of it. good luck then. |

depends on the amount of keystone adjustment that the projector can handle, but ideally you want a straight shoot. |
