This gorgeous film is long overdue for blu ray treatment. I've been waiting for this one for years, but have seen no sign of it getting a release.

Big John Sayles fan from way back. The DVD version of The Secret of Roan Inish is non-anamorphic, IIRC. So, yes, I would also like to see this in an anomorphic Blu version.
Also agree that Limbo (my favorite Sayles film) would look stunning on Blu... |

The brand new restoration (supervised by the director) is streaming on Amazon Prime. It is glorious.
Does this mean a potential blu-ray release? Let's hope so because it looks amazing. |

Also worth of note, it looks like iTunes has updated to this restored version for purchase based on the following details:
*It's now available in HD *The trailer preview looks like its from the restoration *Credit notes are updated "2020 Skerry Movies Corporation" Looks like the same for VUDU although less information is given. It's parts of MoviesAnywhere so I presume we can expect this restoration version across those digital platforms as well. |

I spoke to John's wife (also his producer) months back when the restoration was happening. UCLA was overseeing the restoration (4K) and she/John were paying for it out of pocket. They had negotiated to temporarily get the rights back from Samuel Goldwyn for a period of like 7 years and were currently looking for a distribution partner (I mentioned it to Kino at the time). If they find one, it will probably just last the duration of their lease and then go out of print unless there's some sort of lease rights extension.
