Optimum Region B releases are 4:3 locked:unlocked so far, so no clue on whether or not this is locked.

Are the locked Optimum titles newer films? I don't see why a 17 year old catalog title should be locked.

I didn't think for one second that we were getting the theatrical cut. France is though, two disc set with a different cut on each. New encode? I'll wait for a proper review before I believe that,(be nice, though). Their 'The Fog' disc is a direct port of the HD DVD.

It's basically the UK HD-DVD release duplicated onto a Blu-Ray disc

So not really true to say it's "a brand new encode" - but it IS a different encode to the USA Blu-Ray release

147 minute - Special Edition Cut
2.35:1 Widescreen Transfer (VC-1/1080p)
DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1

So, will the U.S. (with Lionsgate) probably use this encode for the eventual or likely re-release?

That's not the extended cut, the extended cut is 152 minutes, not 147.

Most likely the difference is due to the PAL NTSC video runtime difference.

Or perhaps it's the director's cut/special edition, but not the extended special edition that was a part of the ultimate edition DVD?

should not be relevant on Blu-ray. 24p is 24p.

They should rather do a port of the Terminator 2 Ultimate HD Edition.

Which featured a 7.1 lossless mix. And other features. Some of which are not technically possible on a Blu Ray. But besides that it was really the Ultimate Edition. I hope for those people, who don't have a HD-DVD Player that they are gonna release that version some day on BD
