Default Problems with Stargate: Continuum Blu-ray

So i got the new stargate movie and it doesnt seem to like my blu ray player in my computer, i have 12 other movies (all pretty new) and they play fine, ive even tried to exhange the movie and it still does the same thing. What it is doing is artifacting alot

this is my blu ray drive

Sony BDUX10S SATA Blu-ray Disc-ROM Drive

i am using the latest version of powerdvd, all my other blu rays play fine. The movie and the menu system for my stargate movie navigate fine, but i just get the artifacts (blotchy squares, lots of em) pretty darn often. Not sure what to try since ive tried exchanging it, my software is the latest version, and there are no firmware updates (none that i know of or can find) for my drive.

Any ideas?

I am having the same problem, different drive. I'm running the Pioneer BDC-2202 (my model is the BDC-202). It has the latest firmware (1.07) as well as the latest patches for WinDVD 8. Any help would be appreciated!

Is the artifacting throughout the whole movie? I have the same drive w/ same firmware version, but with WinDVD 9 and I haven't noticed any artifacts.

What firmware (BDUX10S) and software (PowerDVD) versions do you currently have?

Latest firmware version for the BDU-X10S is 1.0d

The latest PowerDVD 8 software update is build 1830 and was released on 7-18-2008

What OS are you running? My problem isn't artifacting (I must have misread the OP) - it won't play at all. All I get is a screen that tells me my drive doesn't have the latest firmware, and tells me to go to www.foxbd.com/cs to get the latest firmware. The problem, of course, is that I did that (the latest is 1.07) and I still get the message. I have applied every possible update for firmware and WinDVD8 software to no avail. I'm running Vista HP x64, and I wonder if that's part of the problem. I'm going to see if there is a different player I can use, maybe that will do the trick...

So it turns out the problem was WinDVD 8. I installed a trial of Total Media Theater and had no problems. I think I've been in denial about how bad WinDVD really is, because it's always free with the drives. I hate to pay for software to do the same thing I can get for free, but in this case I think the cost is justified - TotalMedia Theater does a great job.

Thanks!
