Da vinci speakers?

Well, I have a friend that i let borrow money and he can not pay me back, yes I have learned my lesson. He wants to give me some of his things for payment. He has some da vinci speakers that he says are worth 2500. He owes me about 1300. I am not into audio much but I just bought a yamaha rx 663 receiver and he says that theses will be badass for my system. Its a 6.1 system and the box even says 2499 on it. They do sound very good. My question is i do not really want the speakers as I would much rather have the money, especially right now. Are these speakers really worth 2500? Could I sell them for at least 1300? They are in great shape. He still has the box and everything tat came with it.

Any help would be great. He also has a Vizio plasma but I do not want that at all. The speakers seem to be the only thing of vaule that I would even consider.
