I was just wondering why the graphics on the Wii are so sub-par? I was really anxious about getting this system, until my brother in law brought his over to my house to play. The only connections are through A/V cables i think...Anyway, the game he was playing was a sonic the hedgehog game and it honestly looked horrible.
I don't claim to have the best tv out there or anything, but the Wii did not do it any justice. I was just wondering if the particular game graphics sucked or if every other game would be that way? Never-the-less I've played this system on other televisions with other games, and they didn't look all that bad. Just not up to par with the PS3 or X-Box... |

- Super Mario Galaxy - Metroid Prime 3 - Zelda Twilight Princess - The Conduit (2009) Those games alone are worth having a Wii |

Ditto - if you're too hung up on the graphics of any gaming system, you're going to miss out on having any fun playing the games!

the wii's graphics can't even come close to the PS3s. most of the stuff on the wii is nothing but crappy shovelware too.
you gotta know what you are buying in order to get the most out of your wii and if you pick one up and just get the really, really good games a wii is totally worth $250 simply for those games. - super mario galaxy - super smash bros. brawl - twighlight princess - boom blox - MP3 all good choices. |

I have all 3 games systems, so that obviously includes the Wii.
Overall I like the system a lot and I have several games for it that I really enjoy. It may not be for everybody, and that's fine if some people do not like it. I admit, I wouldn't want it to be my ONLY game system of the three. In fact, I don't think there is any one game system this generation that I would want to pick as the only one to have if I could only have one (all of them have some good strong points, but some really big negatives points for me as well). Graphics are all well and good, and I do appreciate them when they look really nice. But it is nice to also get a new gameplay experience every now and then, too. The problem for me with both the 360 and the PS3 is that gameplay-wise, in most cases they aren't bringing anything significantly new to the table across the board. Heck, the PS3 controller, from a gameplay standpoint, is essnetially 95% the same controller that game with the later version of PS1 (after the first Dualshock controller game out). The same can basically be said for the 360 controller compared to the regular Xbox controller (there was more of a redesign in that case, but nothing earth shattering). We are getting a lot of games on those two systems that are sequels/remakes of older games, and for the most part the gameplay is the same, they just look prettier. That's not always a bad thing. There are some games that I enjoy playing the sequels to. But it's also nice to get something new in terms of how you play and control the game, and the Wii has really opened that up quite a bit. Unfotunately there isn't a lot of really great 3rd party software, and most of the really good stuff is made by Nintendo. And that's not really the system's fault. It's that the third party companies keep choosing to go the cheap and half-assed route with their games for the system in most cases. When done well (and there are a few third party Wii games that have been done well), nice things can result). The Wii may not be able to compete graphics wise, but it has a lot of other positive aspects. I could go on a lot more about my feelings about these systems, the timing on which they came out, and many other things about the whole console 'war', but that would go way off topic and this post would probably end up being 10 times longer than it already is. |

Although I am not a fan of the wii Nintendo struck gold with this system by perfectly going for a market that just want fun interactive games at a semi reasonable price as a result they did not build it with a focus on mind blowing graphics or sound.
