I have this blu ray player its good and it isnt.... sometimes the movie plays other times only the previews play for example i was trying to play street kings. I could only watch up to when the previews were done and then just a black screen, this has happened before but like i said its played different movies well too! i purchased it about 6 months ago and still have original firmware on it i havent done any upgrades or anything, didnt know i had too... could this be the cause of the problem?

Most definitely. Update it. They don't make them updates for no good reason

They have had about 4 different firmware updates for this player(I have it), you can either download and burn a disk image of the update or connect it to ethernet and do it via the internet. If you do it via ethernet, it will take about 1/2 hour per update, and it will only do the updates in order - so if you need 3 updates you will need to update it 3 times in a row to get caught up. If you do it with a disk you can apply the latest update without going through the others. Hope this helps you out.
