White Christmas Blu-ray Review

Is anyone else looking forward to the release of this holiday classic? Our family has made a tradition of watching it every year; lately we have been inviting friends over and having "White Christmas" parties. I hope it gets a worthy transfer!

My wife loves this film. I'm sure it will make it's way into our collection.

+1. This is one of my GF's favorite holiday films as well. I am sure it will end up being one of her gifts this year.

White Christmas is a classic, and I was thrilled to see its pending release on the front page this morning! With the Rankin-Bass releases also coming out soon, it's going to be a very Blu Christmas!

Insert the usual grumbles about how Paramount's perennial holiday marketing of the movie has made countless generations of movie-illiterate fans forget that "Holiday Inn" ever existed....
(But then, they had to go with the more recognized newer film just for the widescreen VistaVision, the Technicolor, and because they always think someone'll complain about the un-PC numbers in "Inn".)

And that it's only holiday marketing giving us this movie, which means there's probably no chance of a Vista/Danny Kaye "Court Jester" Blu...

I love this movie, and got a DVD as a gift. I haven't even watched it yet, I will wait for this. One of my favorite christmas movies and musicals.

I'm ashamed to say I haven't seen all of this. I've only ever seen the first 2/3 (which are decidedly not very Christmasy). Still, I really enjoyed what I've seen and know this will look stunning in HD. It's nice to see the supplements are all HD, too. A definite purchase from me.

I know, I know. It's just that when it comes to catalogue titles, I'll usually catch them on TV first before I decide to buy them (I don't really rent). White Christmas for some reason is hardly ever shown on TV despite its classic status. It wasn't until last year on ABC Family that I finally saw it was airing. I made it 2/3 of the way through, but they had to air it after a particularly hectic day of work for me, so I fell asleep. Next thing I know, I wake up and some other program's on. I remember liking what I saw, but also a bit baffled that it wasn't really a Christmas film. I'm assuming the last third makes up for that? Either way, I'll find out for sure later this year.

There is christmas stuff at the end, at least the last third, either way it's really enjoyable.

Ever heard of "Its a Wonderful Life" or "The African Queen"? They are way older than the 1990's.
