Any release date for Traffic (2000) Blu? - Blu-ray Forum

Anyone know when this is making it to blu? It came out early on on HD-DVD but so far can't find anything!

There is a region-free German release and a Canadian release is scheduled for March according to this site.

Being released by Alliance in Canada on March 3rd. The price will be low (around $20cdn), but this disc will likely not have any extras, and perhaps no subtitles (except where they are literally a part of the film).

I'm almost positive it was region-locked. I asked again on AVS.

Sorry, my apologies. It is region-free. Extras are Pal. And the audio is lossy. Those last 2 reasons are why I passed.

it may not play on some US machines(Sony in particular) due to the PAL content at the beginning of the disc, see the note posted on that site

Traffic is a good film & I can see wanting to own it but I wouldn't set your hopes too high for picture quality. I've done side by side comparisons with the HD DVD & DVD upscaled (simultaneously) & the PQ is a near wash.

As for audio, yes there is a discernible difference.

Not a title I'd personally recommend as a nice upgrade over the SD.

It was supposedly an upconvert, IIRC.

March 3rd in Canada, Alliance release though so extras are not to be counted on, but their releases all have had good PQ and AQ. $17.95 Can. at Amazon.ca, which is like $14.25 US, so if you can't wait for the US release and extras aren't your thing, a cheap and fast way of getting it.

Yeah the Europe AVC TV Broadcast was way superior in term of detail (and didn't have any EE)...

Oh I heard about it & I don't buy it for a second.
It is a 1080p re-master & the problems are source related.

The Europe broadcast is 1.78 & like all or most broadcast movies, they are 1080i/720p & modified PQ & SQ.
