Default I have to ASK....What' so Special

I have to ask what so special about getting a BD 2 or 3 weeks before street date.
There have been so many threads about this or that movie being shipped early and even some people calling up the seller and asking about an order...what gives is it so much better to have a movie 2 or 3 weeks before the actual street date.

Never have understood it myself. Heck, most movies I wait a few weeks and catch on sale anymore. I will be buying Iron Man release week though.

To come on this forum and say "Haha I got my copy of Iron Man Today so, I'm cooler than you" of course, is there any other reason.

For me I missed it in theaters because I was on a deployment So, I'm very anxious to see it and not having to wait two or three weeks makes it all the better.

When people get their copy early, they get overexcited, and want to show it off to other people. Also, to recommend other people to buy from that certain place.

It makes people feel like "They're King Of The World"

Makes oneself feel more special than others.

It gets old quickly after you watch it a couple times and you tell yourself," What was I thinking?"

Thats just the way it is, people are impatient.

Pepople like getting movies before everybody else does. It happens with everything, remeber the long lines a couple of months ago to get a new 3G iphone? Remember the lines to get a PS3 when it first came out? It is human nature.

It's so exciting, it made you post 4 times straight?

Anyway, it's just like getting anything you like/want earlier. Sooner is better.

I actually have not seen post whoring that bad for a while (save for Alex&Jeff or whatever that person is).

Personally, it's exciting to get a movie early. But really, there's only certain ones I'd like to get early (Iron Man being one, Indy 4, Wall E, The Dark Knight...) The rest I can wait on.

Try to imagine, for a moment, that there is something you really want...anything. It could be a new car, cell phone, TV, it could be expensive, it could be cheap, it's just some new product that will be released in the next couple of weeks. Perhaps there was a product like this in your past when you were a child, perhaps a new toy that would be coming out soon.

Now it's not just something you want, but many other people, not everybody, but many people are interested as well. In fact, many other people want to get their hands on it as soon as it is available.

All of a sudden, you find out that there is some place that actually has this item in stock and is selling them early. And you just so happen to be one of the few who are interested and was actually able to get your hands on it before everyone else.

So again, you asked, "What is so special about getting a BD 2 or 3 weeks before street date?"

And the resounding answer is, "We could probably draw you a picture man, but truth be told, it's not rocket science."

I generally laugh when posts go up about it because most of the time it means that they actually paid retail store price just for bragging rights.
If a preorder ships early on the other hand then it is all good.
As it is I still have blus and ps3 games that are not even opened yet and I know others in that situation too so I say let those who live to find the early release find their excitement where they must.
