Simple enough, i was wondering if its worth shelling out an average of around 125 - 140 for a steering wheel for the game.
im more of a fps gamer, and wondered how it would feel using this and gt5 prologue. i just bought it (the game) but aint too sure if its worth it. Nonetheless, they have the GT5 for $129 at frys. I saw another model, the Drive force pro for ps2/ps3 at bb for around 130something... so, if ever you had the clams to buy either, which one did you go with? I still have to find a table to mount this on.... ![]() poll please? and no, the G25 is way too much money for me to spend on. i still have to wait for the psn gift card to come out. ![]() |

I was thinking about a wheel too, but I think the prices on the playseats are a bit much. Will it work on just an actual table?

If you don't want to pony up the cash for a G25, go with the Driving Force Pro. The G25 is pretty much a revamped DFP with a clutch and 6-speed shifter anyways. Don't waste your money on anything less; you'll want the durability and strength in the force feedback these wheels offer, and don't forget full 900 degree rotation.
I *think* the GT5 wheel is the same as the DFP, which made it's debut with GT4. Perhaps a slight overhaul for GT5? The only better wheels on the market are the Porsche wheel and those made by Frex, both of which cost substantially more. If you want to do some more research or have specific questions, I recommend visiting the forums on the following sites: http://www.gtplanet.net/ http://www.rscnet.org/ At any rate, you'll want a comfortable setup and a VERY solid table. The force feedback is very strong, and you don't want your table sliding, tipping all over the place. Similarly, you'll want to ensure your pedals don't slide around. If you check the cockpit/simulator subforums at the above sites, you'll get a lot of ideas for how to mount your wheel. Alternatively, for less than a playseat you can build yourself a much better cockpit with the designs available there. Anyways, GT5 with a wheel is awesome. Once you get some time with it under your belt, you won't go back to a controller. Truly an immersive experience. Last edited by Thegide; 04-20-2008 at 02:24 AM. |

i bought my MOMO racing wheel a few years ago when GTR 2 came out, and was pleasantly surprised that it worked with no problem when i plugged it in to play prologue. Suffice to say, once you play with the steering wheel you don't even want to play with the controller anymore. I can't even wrap my mind around playing with a controller when it's just so much fun with the steering wheel. My friends came over and we played for a while and than decided to come up with a "cockpit" type to attach the steering wheel / pedals. hopefully build it tomorrow and hope it works out. I"ll show pics if it ends up being good

on bestbuy.com website they still have it so i'm sure you can still find it. Very popular racing wheel. GT5 Prologue doesn't "officially" support this wheel meaning you won't be able to change options like you see in the prologue menu but it works fine. You would have to look at the price difference between the one's supported and the MOMO , but i love mine and i'm sure the new ones are just as good if not better. Good luck!!

The new wheel has the PS button as well as the regular PS2 buttons which means that you can use it as Controller 1 for the PS3. If you like playing these kinda games, a one-time investment in a force-feedback controller like this is a no-brainer.

Is the $100 difference between the G25 and driving force pro worth it?
I understand the G25 has a true manual shift and clutch, but will I be able to use it if I'll only play Gran Turismo? Also the G25 doesn't have the PS3 specific buttons. Sorry if it seems I am hijacking the thread, but I think my questions are in the same light as that of the OP. |

Look around for these too. I got my Driving force pro for around $70 at best buy. For some reason they had them in the 50 percent off bin. Couldn't pass it up. I bought one and It's amazing. I went back to pick up the other and it was already gone. Anyway I see the new one is coming out in May. Anyone able to compare this to the Driving Force Pro yet?

I'm still using a Logitech force feedback racing wheel I bought for GT4 (or 3?) several years ago. Still works great on GT5 although I had to buy a USB extension cable go get it far enough from my 102" screen.
![]() I clip the wheel to an old TV table and sit on the couch. It doesn't have all the buttons that the new ones probably have, but I keep a controller handy and away I go! |

The G25 is fully functional in a ton of PC racing sims. I believe GT5:P is the first PS3 game to support the clutch though (in other games it works the same as the DFP). Hopefully more games will add this in the future. Last edited by Thegide; 04-21-2008 at 01:49 PM. |

But anyway, I'll just buy both wheels, try em out and return what I like less. Gamestop has the new driving force pro in stock already. No need to wait for april 30 on amazon, if you're okay paying sales taxes. |

they also have it in Frys (the one with the red button)...
although it seems very very enticing to buy, i think im going to save up instead and put the money into better use. thanks for the opinions btw. i think if ever given the opportunity, id go with the Drive force pro instead of the GT25 (? - the 129 one)... first, its ps2 compatible as well (im not sure about the GT25 one), and well... i can always do the adjustments with a push of the pause button. albeit they cost almost the same amount of money. |
