This is a missed opportunity! Universal should be releasing the sequels as well. There is a lot of interest in Airport '75, '77 and '79. I can only imagine how long it will be before they get released (if ever). C'mon Uni, get with it...and give us Earthquake already too!!!

I'm glad to see that Universal is releasing this in its original aspect ratio of 2.20:1. I wonder if the Universal logo will be at the beginning of the movie or at the end like the current DVD. The only time I recall the logo at the beginning was an old VHS copy that I had. I think someone mentioned that the TODD-AO prints had the logo at the end of the movie-the 35mm prints had it at the beginning. Anyway, glad this is finally getting released-it hasn't aged as well as some of the other 70's disaster classics, but I still enjoy it. But I definitely like Airport 1975 and Airport '77 better. Even Airport '79 is entertaining in a campy way. It would have been awesome if Universal released all 4 in a new terminal pack. Fingers crossed that the sequels will follow soon with Earthquake.

I just got my copy from merry old England, and I have to say how great this transfer is. Much, much better than I ever expected. Those of you waiting for the domestic release are in for a real treat.

Can't wait-sounds like Uni did a pretty decent transfer. Does it have any extras or trailers for '75, '77, '79? I would have liked a commentary from Kennedy and Bisset...I think they are the only surviving cast members at this point.

And just curious - is the Universal logo at the beginning or the end of the movie?

The UK version is a bare-bones release -- no extras, no trailers, no commentaries. A bit of a disappointment to be sure, but the transfer is so great I hardly noticed.

The Universal logo plays after the end of the movie. The disc itself starts up with the brand-new Universal 100th anniversary logo.
