Okay, I realize that a given movie's soundtrack configuration is usually listed as 2.0, 5.1, 7.1 etc., and I completely understand that; it tells you what surround encoding pattern has been used in the mastering of the disc, but when a person refers to their speaker configuration in their home theater setup, is it wrong to say "5.1 or 7.2 or 9.3" etc., in reference to how many speakers are being employed?
I know that this is probably just a matter of semantics, but I'm curious what the proper terminology is, or at least what everyone thinks it is. ![]() |
