Default Tx-Sr805 and PS3=No audio

I just hooked the 805 up to the PS3 via HDMI and no audio at all...what am i doing wrong? Is the HDMI cable the only cable i need for both audio and video? With my old 505 i needed HDMI and Optical for audio...do i still need both of these cables? Maybe it is a setting on the receiver itself...Bitstream or PCM?

You need to have it as Linear PCM and under audio, go to HDMI, manual, and select everything. Make sure you have the 805 HDMI input and output correctly set. Also make sure you're not in any stereo mode until you've got everything set.

yes, in the receiver 'HDMI Audio Out' should be set to OFF.

Ok...had to go to work last night and still cant get it to work. I get video, but no audio. I already checked all of the things you guys mentioned. The HDMI Audio Out is set to OFF on the receiver, the PS3 is set to Linear PCM and i checked all of the options on the manual screen. I dont have the Digital Optical even plugged in anymore, never did to the 805. I'm running out of things to check...any more suggestions?????

Just got off the phone with Onkyo Tech Support. It is defective! Now i gotta send mine back too. I tried to do the same...reset it...and nothing. No static on the test tone to any of the speakers. THIS SUCKS!

So now the question is do i have to pay for shipping it back? Hey GRIP? where did you get yours from? How did that return work out for you? I got mine from E-Cost and of course...they are closed today.

I got mine at Shoponkyo.com ......They send me a prepay FeDex return label ..The day after I send it back for an exchange they put the 805 on sale so I cancelled the exchanged and bought it again for $120 cheaper that I had bought it a week before.

BTW Amazon drop the price for the 805 new one.

The only reason I bought it on line is because non of the stores in my area had them any more....I never buy big electronics on line because of this reason.....Sending a bluray back is no biggie compare to sending out a 60 pound receiver....

I havent received the new one yet but if theres any problem with it is going back for good....Ill just keep my 803 until I find one local or wait till the next 807..

I got the first one for $560.00 shipped and the new one for $443.00 shipped...Couldnt resist.
