Default Xbox question

Those go here right?

Anyway. I don't think this has been discussed, and if it has it wasn't in a forum that I found. BUT... I was wondering if you guys thought the Xbox 3 would use Blu-rays...

They CAN'T make Xbox 3 and still use DVDs. I wonder what their plan will be. Any thoughts?

lol.

well to go on a bit more here..they would love to ignore blu-ray and be all digital, but its clearly way too early for that, so they'll be forced to have a disc drive again. and unless some huge breakthrough shows up soon (very unlikely), they'll have to stick a blu-ray drive in there.

I read somewhere the development cycle of a game console is about five years. I can't imagine when Xbox 3 comes out, it being DVD based and pushing that format for another 5 years. Suppose it's released in 2010, then it's DVD gaming through 2015. Can't see it happening.

i dont think they wont let MS use the Blu-Ray drive for the next xbox. MS will just kill it. just like they did with the HD-DVD format.

For sure it'll have blu capabilities. In fact I wouldn't be shocked if they release a new 360 model with blu capabilities sometime in the future.

I would. people would be pissed that have already bought one. plus you can't release games that won't play on a certain model. it's not possible. unless they use it just for movies. but even then i don't see it happening this generation.

Negative. they have already address the 360/Blu-ray issue. one of the top guys(not important enough for me to remember his name) said it wont happen! they're to focused on DDs. plus they dont want to show their submission......submission! for M$, thats a bit of a problem:

It's an interesting idea.

I doubt that it'll happen, but it's interesting.

Think of it this way, since there won't be any places to make HD-DVD's likely in a few years, {all those ones that got converted from DVD to HD-DVD will likely easily be converted back to DVD by years end}

So in another year or so, when the Xbox Breakdown edition comes out, where will they get the HD-DVD's when they have the chance to sell... 3 games when the system first comes out?

It's M$. They can keep the facility going if they wanted to. You can't play a 360 game in a PS3, Wii, DVD player, or blu-ray player.

We all know they don't want to go Blu... They CAN'T do complete downloads YET... They CAN'T keep up with the market if they STAY DVD.

So it seems like the best bet for them would to be to do an HDdvd buy out, or reteam with toshiba. And make the disks for JUST their games. I'm sure Toshiba would be on board because they need to feel validated in thinking their disk wasn't complete garbage.
