Default TV Purchase Question/Help

Sorry, I need help again and I'm not really knowlegable on this stuff (despite the fact that I've been reading articles and looking at forums on this site).

I'm currently looking at 2 32" TV's by Westinghouse... this... and this The first is on sale and both say in the specs 1080i compatible; the second one says 1080i in the description.

I've read that 1080i compatible could mean it will reformat the video down to 720p. My question is this: Are they both actually 720p or 1080i or what?

Thanks again.

No big difference between the TVs or no big difference between 1080i and 720p on a 32"?

I understand the difference is minimal but as the consumer though, I would like to know what I'm getting.

My question remains, are they both actually 720p or 1080i or what?

Neither .. 768p is the native resolution of both tv's (1366 x 768).. I guess anything lower than 768p will be upconverted .. and anything higher will be downconverted.

Oh.... I didn't know that TVs went between the main resolutions.

Okay, this gets a little more into personal prefrence but as a college student (sophomore) who works part time (slightly above minimm wage) would either be considere a decent purchase?

Anyone think these are decent purchases? I can't really afford the "high end" stuff currently.

I am in your shoes, vegeta88. I am also a college student, who works a part-time (slightly above minimum wage) job, who's also in the market for a 32" HDTV. It's a struggle.

Westinghouse SK-32H540S Review:

I can find a review on the Westinghouse W3223.

May I ask why you've chosen Westinghouse? The price, I would speculate.

At Best Buy, the W3223 is only $499.99 and that's about my budget

I could spend more but I don't want to not have money

I'm looking at Westinghouse fr both price and record. I guess they've been around in high def since the beginning.

It just seems like a pretty good buy based on my budget. I'd obviously like to get a 50" 1080p but, you know...

Thanks for the warning; I appreciate that but I don't watch TV in my room, just movies and games.

Westinghouse is lower end? This is why I need the Blu-ray forum.

This TV will be used almost exclusively by a PS3 (games Blu-ray and DVDs) and I think that it looks decent for my price range but I'm not sure.

IMO...if you have $500 to spend right now...i would recommend saving a couple hundred more and getting a Sony or Samsung 720p LCD. You can find one for approximately 600-700... I think it would be better in the long run.

Because its better quality?
It seems as though Westinghouse isn't recommended by you all.

Buying a Westinghouse is like buying a Vizio. You're buying the bottom end products.

Look at the 32" Panasonic LCD on Amazon for $561, it would be much better and only a few dollars more. Otherwise, yes save your money and get a Samsung LN32A450.

Yes. Picture Quality. I'm sure if you put a Westinghouse side by side with a Sony or Samsung you will see the difference.
