Default Is this site ever going to update a single title's Info?

I apologize ahead of time if this has been discussed already or if this is in the wrong area of the forum. I'm New to Blu-ray, and admittedly don't own a single title yet. I have a 56" 1080p Samsung, surround sound, everything ready to go. I'll be using a PS3, which admittedly may not be the best blu-ray player, but should suffice.

Here's the problem. I'm what you might call picky. And though I plan to collect both HD and Blu-ray (one actually HAS to, with the exclusive deals going on) one thing annoys me when I look through both selections at stores. And that is Blu-ray disks tend to be completely stripped of extra content. Of course there are exceptions, usually when a movie is released in both formats, but it gets a tad frustrating. Even more so, when there's no real compendium that shows the titles available and what extras they do have. I tried amazon, which is shaky at best, and now this site, which seems to show off that maybe one day they're add all the info, but right now we get little more than titles. So obviously stores don't carry large enough supplies yet to accurately look through every title available, so I guess my question is when will online shoppers actually get to make an educated purchase?

Actually, it's pretty much been universally heralded as the best Blu-Ray player in the market today. As an owner of both the Samsung and PS3, I whole-heartedly agree with everyone's assessment.

Actually, if you just wait about 6 months (if not sooner) it's extremely likely that this will change.

The retailers haven't caught up yet. Once it reaches mass-market adoption you'll see more consistency in listings, etc. In terms of added value content, you'll see this start to change over the next few months, but right now things are a little sparse. The priority for most early adopters (in my opinion) is pristine video and audio quality, so right now "bonus" features seem to be taking a back seat. Same thing happened with DVD, so I'm sure we'll inevitably see the double-dips down the road at some point.

We'll see. I really don't take a particular side in the whole "war", whatever's the best product is what I'll be picking up on a case by case basis.

I agree that the superior audio/visual aspect is important, but my standards are a bit higher in terms of what I'm paying for. Essentially, I'm looking to replace my dvd collection. So ideally, the perfect HD or Blu-Ray disk would have everything on my already existing dvd, but with the obvious enhancements. This is especially important to me with the raised prices. For example, the extended cut of Kingdom of Heaven. I have the 4 disc dvd set, which is fantastic. I'd love to pick up the Blu-ray version, except that its stripped. So I could never get rid of my dvd version. In general I find this extremely odd given the vast amounts of data space on Blu-ray disks. It just seems lazy to me.

But thanks very much for the info you've provided, you're right, it is a new media and will take time to grow, and I appreciate your input, its been very helpful

A lot of the newer titles are putting more extras on the disc. A lot of it is wanting to bilk people for more money down the line with special releases.

Yeah the recent Buena Vista releases have all extras in High Def.

Me I couldn't care less about extras. The lossless audio is far more important.

Heck yeah! Extras are OK, but I'll take the best quality audio and video over extras any day...

I collected a lot of Special edition SD-DVDs for the extra content and the pure joy of collecting. But why would you want to sell everything SD? I didn't particularly like KOH, so I won't buy it, but if I had that 4-disc edition, I would keep it in the collection for the extras and get the BD just for the feature in HD. Just my 2 cents.

I couldn't agree more. Lossless audio is 100x more important to me than extras which I'll likely never watch more than once. I won't cry about sparse releases so long as the PQ & AQ are done up in an uncomprimising manner.
