Default Unbreakable review . . . kind of

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/36086

There's really not much here, but what little there is is positive. I posted more because I thought it was kind of funny that the headline screams about how great the disc is, but most of it is Harry's usual nostalgic crap, mixed with his *****ing about firmware upgrades and his glaring lack of knowledge about his equipment. But, there ya go.

I'm not surprised. He used to be a very vocal HD DUD backer. No wonder.

Sorry for again.

But yeah, I must have this Unbreakable blu-ray. This and The Sixth Sense are the only 2 movies I like from Shyamalan.

I've read AICN for a number of years and to be honest with you, Harry is Clueless about a lot of things. However he is a real Movie Geek, through and through.

I will prb get it when it's on massive sale, I love the movie but there is just too much Blu for my little green which is putting me in the red! I really wish M. Night would have made sequals to Unbreakable, it has really great trilogy potential.

This is a strange movie for me in that it's both an intriguing storyline but at the same time it's a real snoozefest. M. Night movies are hit an miss but for the most part they all have no replay value whatsoever because once you know what the catch is the movie loses it's effect.

I love this movie and have it pre-ordered with Amazon.

So sad the trilogy isn't going to happen.

That's only if you watch them for the twist at the end. There's much more to an M. Night Shyamalan film than the twists. There's a lot of underlying meaning to his films.

:SPOILER WARNING:
Like most people complained about how The Village wasn't scary when it wasn't even supposed to be a horror film. When really it's about people who think the world is such a horrible place that they want to start over.

No, "Village" was accused of being plagiarized off of a teen novel, and M's only persuasive evidence of innocence was that if he had, he'd only gotten the first two chapters, and the book was more imaginative than his talents could think up.

"Unbreakable", OTOH, tries for the same "magical realism" twist as 6S, but not a surprise twist, so much as a "gradual acceptance of the conceptual idea" twist.
Which, if you weren't so wrapped up in "Oo, the neat-o ending! " of 6S so much as the style and atmosphere of the first 90% of the movie, fits in more with Night's early good style that he lost when he stopped using Bruce Willis.

There is also a review at another site...

I already have this pre-ordered. The dvd was not that good and this BD sounds like a major upgrade.
