Default Alltel Wireless Access and PS3

Does anyone know how to configure the PS3 to access the alltel wireless utstarcom UM150? I've tried to connect by just scanning for wireless connection and it doesn't seem to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please email me if you can assist.

I don't think it's possible without a computer in-between the two.

Thanks for the reply. No luck in this working. I think you have to have the usb broadband stick plugged into the blu-ray but you have to load the software and that is not possible on the PS3... Tried it no dice...

Default I have Alltel wireless and PS3 . . .

but what's the utstarcom UM150?

If it's a wireless modem, then no -- I doubt that the PS3 can use it.

Most drivers and software are written for Windows platforms.

However, if PS3 becomes more widespread, Sony could begin pressuring hardware, software, telecom, and others to start supporting it.

Apple now has pretty good support since it supports universal standard interfaces (USB2.0, wifi, bluetooth) and the PS3 has alll these too.

Jim L thanks for the info... I was hoping my PS3 and AppleTV would pick up the broadband signal that the usb broadband stick was pulling in for my iMac. But that is not the case doesn't work... I guess you have to be plugged in... I tried every scenario I could think of...

The utstarcom UM150 is the USB broadband stick that plugs into the computer and picks up the wireless signal from the Alltel cellular tower...

It works way better than my Sudden Link access...

you have to get a router that will take a usb card, after that u can scan for the signal. If you have the money for one i suggest getting a CYFRE 3G Router. Just google it and you should be able to find one
