Default Dual Blu-ray disc for HFR 3D? (Just an idea)

An idea just ran over my head.

Would you guys accept if one possible way of delivering HFR 3D to home would be to split the movie into two Blu-ray discs? One disc each for the left and right eye. Obviously, we would need a different player that loads and plays the two discs at the same time.

Also, this could allow backward compatibility, playing HFR 2D by loading just one disc.

Now, I know I have not explored all the nook and cranny of actually making this work. But just the idea of having a dual disc playback, instead of pioneering a new disc format altogether, would you invest in this idea? Let's discuss.

It would not work technically or commercially.

It wouldn't be that difficult to pull off from a technical point of view.
It would however be very expensive to do.
You would require a new TV/projector, probably a high end model to cope with the extra processing of two HD HFR signals and two new players (either two seperate or one physical unit) that allow for syncing between them (in theory this could be done with a firmware update).
Also any AV reciever you have would need to compatible.
Going beyond that the discs themselves would need to twice the speed and thus hold half the information, The Hobbit extended editions would come on 4 discs, 2 discs per eye.
BDXL + HEVC would probably be a suitable way forward since you would need a new player and TV anyway.

No No no need for 2 disc's there are higher data capacity Blu ray disc's that exist now (100GB & 128GB BDXL) which are not included in the Blu ray spec for movie releases yet

am i the only one not liking HFR. It looks like a home movie in 1080p. The "movie feel" is gone when watching HFR 3D?

if this is how 4K will look then count me forever out

I saw The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug in HFR. I fully expected to be wowed, and thought the 24fps supporters were being silly purists. But, I didn't like it, at all. Something just felt "off" the entire time, I found myself distracted from the movie almost the entire time. And it left me with a bit of a headache.

So no, you're not alone.

I'm not a huge fan of The Hobbit. I even dread the thought of watching another three long movies.

I wish there's another movie that's willing to explore HFR. But I think only James Cameron is willing to take that step and Avatar 2 is only coming in 2016 or so.

Ultimately, I hope to see HFR released in some format. Even if it means digital download.
