Voice Matching... what is it?

I am putting together my HT and want to start with just L/R/C and add surround at some point in the future. I already have a pair of Cerwin-Vega E-310 floor standers. I would like to continue to use them in order to keep costs down for now. I read the sticky article Speakers 101 and it mentioned the importance of voice-matched front speakers. Could I buy a center speaker that works (Polk CS1 for example) or do I need an new set of matched speakers?

any will "work" but voice, or timbre matching is important, and although speakers from the same line (ie the Cerwin vega center designed to go with the E series) you should look for a speaker with a tweeter and woofer/s made of the same material, and you'll be alright.....

I'm not familiar with that line of cerwin vegas, but you should be able to find info on what the tweeter is made of etc.

The E series hasn't been produced in a few years but you should be able to find some floating around the net if you do a search. Used and new maybe!!!
