Default Here's why I think warner pulled a speed racer on...

Journey to the center of the earth cuz they might be working on the the dark knight like giving it a crap load of extras and they might give it DTS-MA 7.1 or PCM. but thats what I think.

I think they have a limited amount of BD50s throughout the rest of the year and realize they are going to need probably near 2 million BD50s for The Dark Knight, so they feed a few meh movies to the dogs to make their blockbuster really shine.

In 2 years nobody will remember Speed Racers lossy audio, but they will remember The Dark Knight if it has an amazing transfer (which it will).

omg, someone that actually knows what they are talking about...

yes, there is a limit as to how many BD-50s are available right now. hence all these bd-25 releases, even from fox.

i agree 100% and i also think warner will pull a re-release on us with the "meh movies" in a year or two when they do include lossless audio

Even on BD25 Warner could have put lossless TrueHD if they had cared to. No excuse.

WB and New Line to a lesser extent believes that we will buy up whatever they put out on bluray because it is on a bluray disc. They also probably think that most people do not have a HD audio setup in their homes so HD audio doesn't matter to the common buyer of bluray. This I see as bullshit. My hatred towards WB and New Line will continue until I see a constant set of releases that have HD audio or at least a statement from WB saying that starting with X title, all titles will have some form of HD audio....Guess, we will never see the later of these two.

I agree. Once BD50's become plentiful, a lot of these movies are going to be repackaged as Special Editions.. or Go Speed Racer Go First Place Edition like they do with DVD now.

Planeta HD has confirmed that The Dark Knight in the U.K. will come with 5.1 Dolby TueHD and will come in 2 disc and 3 disc sets.

It really wouldn't take that long for them to add a True HD track, plus it could fit on a BD-25 (the movie is only 92 minutes I think) so I'm going to have to respectfully disagree.

agreed,

the movie was 3 discs...they could have put the extras on another disc and lose that stupid dvd game that no one will even take out of the case...or pull the digital copy...once you see speed racer in blu, you cant watch a digital copy on your ipod.

Nope not when Uni, Sony and Disney can put a lossless track on every title even catalog. I bet Speed Racer will outsell Eraser and they gave Eraser a lossless track. At this point I think they're just picking titles at random from a hat.

How many significant figures in a buttload?

I think Warner skimped on Speed Racer because nobody cared about the movie when it was in theaters. Apparently there is an uproar now when it is on a home medium.

Mainly b/c people are starting to expect a certain level of quality. Plus, the fact that the sound is probably phenomenal considering it's a racing movie. I haven't seen it but can imagine sound plays an important part.

Oh well, coulda shoulda woulda....

Agreed!! This film would have easily fit on a BD-25 with lossless. Just another sad example of how Warner's doesn't get what is considered Hi-def.
