It's such a shame that this show hardly gets nominated/wins anything on the Emmy's.

The academy is afraid that this show is too real, too bleak, and too negative for our own good.

Great story, writing, and acting, this show should win every year.

Just another snub from the man!

Do the Emmy's matter? They didn't do crap for shows like Arrested Development. They haven't helped 30 Rock. The Wire has survived regardless.

The Emmys are just as pointless as the Oscars.

The Emmy eligibility period was June 1, 2007-May 31, 2008, and Generation Kill didn't premiere until July, so it wasn't eligible. Regardless, I bet it doesn't get any love at next year's Emmys, not Emmy type of programming. I'm sure HBO will have some other historical epic to sweep next year's show.

As for The Wire, it's possibly the greatest drama show in history, but it never had a chance. It wasn't popular enough, promoted enough, and the fact that it was filmed in Baltimore rather than California hurt it's chances.
