Default 1956 Invasion of the Body Snatchers

Anyone else besides me that would love to see a blu release of Don Siegel's 1956 classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers? Sadly, the studios seem to have little interest in this title, despite its reputation as a classic of its genre.

It's 50th anniversary came and went without so much as a DVD re-release, and currently the only way to view this great film at home is on a non-anamorphic DVD sourced when DVD was in its infancy. I still have my Criterion LaserDisc version, and keep it around for its fabulous commentary track.

I would love to see a complete restoration of this film that includes versions in both Superscope and Academy (full frame) aspect ratios, given that the Superscope "blow up" was imposed by the studio without director Siegel's consent and all the cinematography was originally composed for full frame.

It would also be fantastic if someone could record audio commentary by the two stars, Kevin McCarthy and Dana Wynter, before they are no longer with us. McCarthy is now 96 (but is still working ) and Wynter is 79 and retired.

I would like to see this, along with the 1978 remake.

One of the best Si Fi movies ever made. It just proves that if the story is good, the characters are good, you do not need tons of CGI. This is a classic and should be released on Blu.

I would get this, I wish Criterion would get the rights again.

I'd get the '78 version also, along with the '93 Ferrara version.

Thought I'd bump this now that the '78 remake has been announced.

Selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry in 1994, and voted the 9th best Science Fiction film by the American Film Institute in 2008, this 1956 classic needs to be on Blu.

I'd like to buy both the 1956 and 1978 versions as well.

Oh yes, this needs to be released. After all, another cult sci-fi classic, The Day the Earth Stood Still, is out and that looks great.
