Thumbs up Thoughts on my first BD system

After reading and writing many posts on this forum and not being satisfied with my surround sound. I decided to upgrade and go Blu all along hoping I wasn’t going to waist a lot of $$$$.

My system consisted of 6 SpeakerCraft AIM8’s, 2 SpeakerCraft 8.2 BAS passive subs and one SVS PB13-Ultra, along with a Sony DVD player and a Denon 3805.

The Denon 3805 went off line and was replaced with a Marantz SR7002 and the Sony player replaced with a Marantz BD8002.

I connected both by way of 7.1 analog, calibrating the speakers through the player and running direct through the receiver and connecting HDMI for video.

I plugged in my first Blu which was “Cars.” Holy cr-p. That was the sound I was searching for. I had ordered a number of Blu’s and all sounded fantastic. I am now extremely proud to show off the AQ that my system produces.

NOW THE BONUS

Tonight was the first time I played a standard DVD through the new system. The sound was amazing. Even if I had not played a Blu, I would have finally been satisfied with the surround sound. Am I happy? So much so I had to set down and write this note to you.

Along with the outstanding AQ came up scaling to my TV that does not have HDMI. The older DVD’s not only sound much better, they also look a lot better.

Was the $$$ spent worth it? You bet it was and it will be even better when I get my credit card paid off.
